Mornings with MOM

Hello Friends.  Each and every morning is just about the same thing.  MOM and I get up somewhere between 4:30 and 5 AM.  She gives me my breakfast then we head out to the patio.  Weather is not a factor, well except rain.  I do not like to be out in the rain.  But other than that we always sit on the patio every morning.  MOM has her cup of coffee in one hand and a Bible in the other, oh and her Greek yogurt.  And that is how it begins.

Remember a while back I told you that MOM planted strawberries just for me.  Well here they are.

Here's a closer look.  Looks good huh?  There are two different kinds of strawberries in there.

I get to pick my own strawberries whenever I want.  I love them.

After I pick a few then we sit back and watch the sun come up.  It's our special time together, just the three of us.  Yes I said three.  This guy named Jesus shows up too.  He likes strawberries as well, really it's true.  But usually he lets me have his share.  Such a giving guy.

Me deciding which berry I want.

Then I sit back and listen to MOM read.

Then as MOM sits back and she listens, I help myself to another berry.

Do you see the size difference in these strawberries?  Which would you choose?  MOM and I always choose the little ones first.  They may be tiny but they by far have the best and biggest flavor.  I don't know what kind they are but these little beauties are PACK with flavor and I always gobble them up.  Just goes to show you that you cannot judge a strawberry by it size.  That is a lesson for us in other areas as well.
I love my mornings with my MOM.  It never gets old, and there is always something new about each and every day to look forward to.  How do you spend your mornings?  I hope they are as sweet and beautiful as mine.
"In the morning O Lord, you hear my voice; In the morning I lay my request before you and wait in expectation." ---Psalm 5:3
Blessings,
Goose

  1. Momma and I often watch sunrise together, cuddled together on the sunporch. It is a most peaceful and refreshing time.

You have a special ritual that is beautiful and as sweet as those tiny strawberries!

  2. MMMM. Is that we are going to do when you come and stay with us. I am sure I would like strawberries too. We might have to get up an hour earlier though so we can get all the other dogs fed before we sit and enjoy the sunrise.
I am so excited. I mean, I'll miss My Vickie but I'll get over it.

  13. Your mornings sound so serene. I wish Haylie would eat strawberries...sigh she turns her nose up at every fruit. Now hen I grow Okra she goes crazy for it and eats it right of the vine, sometimes too much and there isnt enough left for me to can :)

  14. I love my mornings with Momma too, but she's never planted a strawberry plant for me! I have to have a talk with her.

  15. I love the sound of your mornings! Ours are a little more rushed, but Mom does sit down on the couch with me and lets me finish her yogurt for her. I think strawberries sound a little better!

  17. Goose you knew I would be reading your blog and see your strawberries and start screaming at the computer screen, and spill Moms coffee...well it really didn't happen that way but it could have...
Our mornings during the week are a little different than yours, mom gets up early, eats alone, while dad and we three lazy pugs sleep. I often jump out of bed though to check on Mom and then get back into bed as soon as I see her getting ready for work. BUT on the weekends, Mom and I go out on the back porch, she drinks her coffee, I whine for her fruit, and we commune with nature and God. I wish we could do it everyday!!

  18. That giving guy, Jesus. He's the best. I bet it's Him that makes the little strawberries (and big ones) taste so delicious. Taking that time everyday, to start your day, is a perfect way to begin each morning. Strawberries, family (Jesus obviously included), and listening, oh it's just BEAUTFUL!

  19. What a heart warming post Goose! How very special to be spending that time with your Mom in the early morning light.

My Mommy is an early morning gal too. She takes her coffee outside and always talks to our Grandma in Heaven. She said it's the best time of the day to do it bcuz it's nice and quiet and that way Grandma can hear her really well. Mommy always comes in with soggy eyes but it's ok. That's just the love shining through between a Mother and Daughter.

    Hugs,
    Lily Belle
p.s. Forgot to tell you that Jesus is there too trying to help Mommy heal her heart a bit.

  21. Morning rituals are the best - we have them with our mom too - but we don't get any strawberries - we have a nice big bushy plant lots of flowers but no strawberries :(

  22. What a peaceful and delightful and delicious way to begin the day!! I wake up sometime between 5-6 am, escort Halle down the carpeted stairs safely into the yard, the little dogs scamper thru their doggie door, then we all settle down to coffee and blogs or the newspapers or I begin cooking whatever we will eat for the day.

  23. Goose, that is a wonderful way for you and your mom to start your days. That is very early. My mom only gets up that early on Mondays and her attitude isn't so good. I'll try to work with my mom to fix her attitude.

  24. What a great way to start the day! I don't know which strawberries I would choose either. I can't handle these types of decisions!

  25. That Bible verse was exactly what I needed to read, Goose! I've been a bit discouraged lately and those words were a huge help! Sometimes I forget to pray (or even eat breakfast) and so I thank you!
I am amazed and impressed that you eat strawberries! Daisy would never eat them!

  26. I have read the scriptures at the start of the day for many years and find that and spending quiet time with the dogs, really sets the tone and enjoying it with beautiful strawberries adds a good 'flavor' too!

  27. Oh yes, Goose, we love the mornings too. We spend lots of time on the deck now that it is cooler. We haven't quite convinced Mom to come out there with us, maybe we need some strawberries too:) So they grew well in a container? We may have to try that next year.

  31. Hi Goose, I love this-you two are really very, very special!!!! Love your mom's mug too-so cute. What a special, holy way to start your day; your strawberries look good. I start the morning with coffee and something to eat and then Hunter and I head for a walk, praising our Saviour. Thanks for sharing and may He continue to richly bless you both. We sure missed you while we were away but glad to be back in touch.

  32. What a lovely way to begin the day. I don't think I've ever seen such tiny berries except for wild strawberries, which we've never tried to eat.

  35. This is so beautiful Goose, I love that the mornings are your very special time with your Mom and its wonderful that you get to listen to her read the bible to you, I love the verse at the end! The photos are great, especially you with the plate of strawberries and the sun coming up behind you, seeing the sun rise is something amazing, its such a quiet time but all of nature is away and birds singing and you can really feel that God is with you!
The Strawberries look amazing, I bet you really enjoy them, they look so good, little or big they all look yummy to me!
My special time with Mum is in the evening, we sit on the patio and watch the bats flit about above us and we look back on the adventures of the day, feeling thankful for all or blessings!
