All Work, Some Play

Well it has begun AGAIN!  MOM got her syllabus in the mail.  Lord Jesus help me.

MOM, MOM, MOM!!  Look at me.  MOM!

See MOM being a pastor has to continually continue her education.  I don't really get it, and truth be told MOM is not always thrilled about it.  She would much rather spend her free time doing ministry, you know working with her hands, doing with her feet, building relationships with those she encounters, stuff like that and of course she would rather take me for hikes, wrestle with me, and just play with me.  Not spending endless hours readings dozens of books and writing countless papers (this class requires her to write 37 papers.  Some are only 3 to 5 pages long but over half are 15 to 28 pages long and she has to conduct 3 interviews of 2 to 3 hours long each).  Something has to give and I guess for a little while I might not get as much wrestling and stick throwing.  Woo is me.  So I try enticing MOM with a few of my favorite toys to see if she will give in to the temptation.

Wanta play with my chicken?  It squeaks

OK how about with my snake?  It squeaks AND the tail rattles.

I'll even throw in my super squishy football.  You know you love the football.

OH NO MOM look the snake has got me!  Help Help!!  MOM!

OK let me see what you are working on that is more fun than playing with me and my toys.  hummmmm.  It's all Latin and Greek to me.  What does this button that says "DEL" do?

Note to self: "Do Not press the "DEL" button because when you do you get sent to your bed.  At least I got to take my toys with me.

After what seemed like 87 hours MOM closed a few books, stacked up her notes, and put the cap on the highlighters and turned off the laptop.  Then she walked over to my bed knelt down and said, "Come on, let's play.  I can do some of this work after you go to sleep."  I love that woman and I am going to try to be more understanding when she has to study.

Mom would like you to ignore her Scooby Doo pajama bottoms.

See MOM I told you this is more fun than all that stuff you were trying to do.  You know I am right.   Oh for the record MOM says she did not give into temptation.  I'm gonna let her think that.  But these eyes and my soft fur are pretty tempting.
Blessings,
Goose

  1. I think it looks like your mom gave into the temptation of the snake (since that's what she is playing with). Isn't there something in the Bible about snakes and temptation? I hope that doesn't send her back to the books.

  12. Mom's facing a big bunch of work for this class...worse than when my momma was taking classes. Don't tempt her, Goose, you know she would rather be doing fun stuff with you, and it is mighty hard to stay focused. Be her angel.

  22. Who on EARTH could resist playing with you, Goose?!?! I'd go for the Squeaky Chicken. Or Squeaky Snake. Does the football squeak, too? Oh, I can't decide! We could just wrestle!
Sorry about the DEL button. Maybe you were just trying to teach your MOM the importance of saving her work? Woo.

  24. That's too many papers, Goose! I don't care how short they are! I teach a six-hour class and would never expect my students to do this much! Maybe she can weave you into some of her writing to get creative? It might make the time pass by more quickly. Maybe you could tell mom about the book Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, it helped me get into the habit of writing.

Happy seeing (and not pressing DEL) Beau-T-Full!

  25. Your mom sure sounds like a hard worker! Just try not to press the DEL button again! BOL!

  26. AFter all that work, then she comes over here and helps at the Kennel. I don't know when she finds time for you. However, I know for a fact that she is taking you for a walk tomorrow with My Vickie. I also know, I still can't go.

Have fun for the both of us. Maybe next week I can come. Just need clearance from Dr. Doughty.

  32. Woof to you Goose!!!! It's me, Mazzie. I'm a Black Lab/GSP/Hound mix who was born in GA but now lives in NYC. I just discovered your blog and can't believe how much we have in common. We both have mothers that make us eggs and spend lots of time on their laptops, we both have Invincible Snakes, we both get sent to our bed/spot when we engage in troublesome behavior.... and the list goes on. My mother also told me to make sure that you know that she has a bit of a soft spot for Weims. We both look forward to learning more about you and hearing about all of your adventures!
