Getting Better

MOM is getting to feeling better, she’s still not her best but there is progress.  So I opened the rest of my presents.  I hardly knew where to begin.  But that only took a nano second to decide.

I guess I was a good boy this year.
But you know the best present I got… my MOM.
I get the same best present every year and I never get tired or bored with her.  She always says I’m her best present next to her Savior’s love.  I don’t mind being second place to him.

I wanted to share this picture MOM’s friend took on Christmas Eve at MOM’s church.
Look how the Christmas lights make the cross glow.  It reminds me that Christ IS the Light and that the cross' shadow, even on that first Christmas, falls across the manger.

MOM does something every year after Christmas is over, and it last the whole year long. I thought you might like doing it too.  She doesn’t throw away the Christmas cards!  She put them in a basket and then draws a new one out every Monday morning. She then puts the card selected in a prominent place and makes that person her focus for the week.
Then she calls the person who sent her the card, or thinks positive thoughts about him or her throughout the day, offers a prayer each morning or sends an email telling them she is thinking about them. Or, sends a "just thinking of you" card.
You know what? Your Christmas cards show how much you have to be grateful for. Extend this feeling of gratitude throughout 2012.
Thanks for all the well wishes for my MOM, she felt every single one and I know it helped.
Blessings,
Goose

  1. We love what your Mom does with the Christmas cards she receives.
And we are glad she's feeling better and YOU got to open up your remaining presents. Did you have to unwrap your best present? :)

  2. Goose you are so blessed by your mom and I know you bless her back every day! Loved hearing about her keeping the cards out and focusing on those folks-that is why she is so loved!I caught a cold from our grands but hope to get over it soon.
Have a good afternoon and keep mom warm so she can get better.

  3. Oh GOOSE... what a grrrreat thingy your mom does with her Cards.. I have also saved EVERY SINGLE one of My Cards.. I just can't pawt with them. Mom puts them in a ZipLock and then I look at them in November... It sort of sets my mind going down the right path before the Holiday Rush begins... and New cards start arriving.

I am glad that your mom is feeling better now.

  6. Goose, the best thing for your mom right now is to get out and get some fresh air. See you at the lake in a few minutes.

  8. That photo of your MOM's church is just gorgeous! We noticed the cross right away!
We're so glad your MOM is feeling better - and wowzers, you must have been a REALLY good boy this year! I agree - I like my dad and mom way better than any toys or anything. Mom thinks both of us were sent by God just for them - I think it works for all of us!

  10. Hi Y'all,

My Human saves the Christmas cards too and likes to look back at them as time goes by. I like the idea your human has about emailing and prayer and positive thoughts...I'll tell my Human.

Glad your human is feeling better. There is all kinds of nasty "bugs" going around this time of year.

    Y'all come back now,

  12. I'm glad your mom is feeling better! Mom says the pastor at her candlelight service on Christmas Eve talked about Jesus in the shadows for Christmas and it was beautiful. That picture reminded her of the sermon. She says I'm her best present, too, but not to tell Dad because he tries hard to get her good loot! ;)
