Did Someone Say Dig

My MOM actually took her whole day off.  I thought that would mean we would go hiking.  But she said she needed to get things done around the house.  {{sigh}}.

This is a bush in our back yard.  I don't know what it is but it gets this weird fruit on it that looks like a star when you cut it open.  Anyway... See we have flood irrigation to water our yard.  It's rather cool, once a week our half acre yard turns in to a pond for a few hours.  Problem is the water does not flow everywhere.  Sometimes obstacles get in the way.  This is where the bush behind me comes in.  So the MOM decided to dig a trench/ditch through the middle of the thing.  Did I here someone say "DIG"?  I'm on it!

In I go.

Almost through to the other side

Inspecting my work

Almost done

What do you think MOM?  We make a great team don't we?

Hey I have idea.  (This is my Great idea face)

I could sit here at night and charge the Raccoon's a toll.  They love this bush and I figure I could charge a few treats to pass through.

I thought the work was done, but I was wrong.  Seems it is ironing night.  My MOM irons everything.  Well except her socks.  I really don't understand the whole ironing stuff, but I figure I better help out with that too.

Hiking shorts.  She is ironing hiking shorts!  I really don't think the wildlife care if her shorts have a wrinkle or not.  "Hey Sneaky Snake I see you going after my deer antler."

It was a long day, what with the excavating and ironing not to mention all my normal duties.  MOM says I need to rest up cuz I have a visitor coming tonight and she will be staying until June 2nd. That could only mean one thing..... Belle is coming!  So I better get my handsome rest.
Blessings,
Goose

  1. Boy Goose, you had a busy day and I think it is great that Belle is coming to stay. Does that mean she gets to stay here tomorrow night while our humans go Moose hunting?

  2. hey Goose,

What a great day of fun and work, and being with your mom. I think you did a pawsome digging job and what a terrific idea about charging a toll to the racoons. And, I love your "Great idea face."

FYI, your sneaky snack keeps trying to get your yummy treats. He is brave to mess with a dog's yummy treats!

  5. You are so lucky that your mom lets you help with the yard work. Most dogs aren't lucky enough to be able to dig in their own yard.

I just noticed that I am on your blog roll! Yours is the first blog I have seen my blog listed. I feel like I have finally arrived in blogville now. Enjoy my new post...major cuteness factor involved.

  11. You are a really digger there Goose. Did you know the term digger is Aussie for an army solider? They called them diggers because that is what they did during the 2nd world war - dug the trenches. It also means an all round good guy, a mate, someone who stands for what they believe in. Yep you are a digger Goose - PS> I think you should charge those racoons 2 treats!!!

  15. Goose, Great job digging the passage around the bush-I'm sure the raccoons will thank you. I know your mom so appreciates all your hard work. Ironing, really??? I iron when I have to but here in Colorado, everything is casual so unless my clothes are really in bad shape the only time I iron is fabric for quilts. Can't wait to see who is coming for a visit; I hope it is Belle.
    Have a fabulous day.

  20. Goose, for a second it looked like you were digging to China! I wonder how the water will flow now? That is so cool that your yard pretty much tuns into a slip and slide! Charging the racoons a toll of treats is hysterical. The image is just brilliant. I don't do the ironing thing either, but it always makes others clothes look so lovely. Mine are wrinkly. We're okay with that though. Have so much fun with Belle! We know you'll be seeing a whole lotta beautiful!

  25. Goose, next time you need to dig a trench, give us a holler, we would love to help and then maybe a few raccoons could pass at one time and you could collect double tolls - boy, this is one long sentence:)

Have lots of fun with Belle. Is your Mom really going moose hunting?
