A Special Day with Jamie

My Friday walk with my friends was canceled due to heavy rain and gusty winds.  I thought we could still go, but the peeps thought it best if we did not.  But then Bert called me Saturday and asked if I would like to join him at a park I have never been to.  AND he was bringing his big sister Jamie.  Jamie is a very special dog.  She taught Bert all he knows about Search and Rescue.  She's retired now (she's 17) and life has slowed quiet a bit for her.  But she does love to go to the park and check things out (even if she does have a seizure or two while she is there.)  How could I say no?  I couldn't.  And a bonus besides bringing Jamie Bert brought Scrappy and Abby.  Come along with us as we play in a park that was just flooded by the irrigation (just like I do to my yard once a week).  Oh there are a few photo's, sorry it was hard to pick just a few.

Look at Scrappy go

Please note who is in the water and who is not.  Bert says he's taking the high road.  You know what I say?  I say sometimes you have to get in the trenches and get your paws dirty.

This is Abby

I plan on making a left paw turn.  That is why my tongue is pointing left.

Doesn't Bert's tail look like a skunks?

This is sweet Jamie with Scrappy

Bert receiving instructions from the girls

This is a rare photo.  I beat Bert to the ball

The ball is drowning, what do we do?

Jamie, SAR dog extraordinar.  Featured in several magazines and newspapers because she was one of the very best.  In her time as a SAR dog she found countless people, both dead and alive.  In mountains, and woods and even under water.

If there is water to be found that is where you will find Bert

I might not be as good as Bert in the water, but I can make a might big splash

Always keep one ear a tuned to whats going on around you

Scrappy is coming in for the speedy sneak attack

Bert practicing his breathing under water

Miss Vickie carrying her beloved Jamie.  She had enough for the day.  I was very concerned and followed them all the way back to the pavilion (don't worry she is OK, just tired)

MOM threw the ball in the corn field.  Bert is showing his search skills in finding it

I was trying to point him in the right direction

Jamie came back out to show us how it is done

This has been a great day, weeeeeeeeeeeeee

hump, really it's time to go home?

Bye Bert.  Thanks for inviting.

Blessings,
Goose

  26. Woof to you Goose!!!! I can't believe what a water dog you've become!!!! The expression on your face when you were told it was time to go home is too much. And thanks so much for introducing me to Jamie. After all of her years of service, I was so happy to learn that she is much loved and well cared for. And what a nice cameo of Bert riding shotgun at the end of your post! Much love to you - XXOO - Mazzie
