Rain and a Prize

As you can see MOM got the mower all put together.  But unfortunately it rain most of the day so she was pretty sad she could not cut the grass.  She is crazy like that.  My MOM loves to cut the grass, just loves it.  But it will have to wait for anther day.

Check this little blue thing out.  Know what that is?  You hook your hose to it after you finish mowing and it clean the underside of the mower.  MOM went all kinds a joy all over that little feature.  Little things like that bring her so much happiness.  Just imagine how much a big thing like me brings her.

Now for the prize.  I am going to show you a picture of a tree and if you think you know what it is let us know.  All those who guess correctly will have their name written on a ball, then tossed all together in the air and whatever one I bring back will win a fabulous prize.  Ready?

What is this tree behind me?  It's about 70 feet tall and has white flowers on it.
That's the tipy top of the tree

Here's a close up of the flower on the tree.  OK, got it?  Really tall tree, white flowers, and one more hint that might, maybe, help.  I live in Northern Utah.  Good luck.

Other things blooming in our yard, like this bleeding heart.

OK thanks to Cindy pointing out that what MOM said was a bleeding heart when really it is a Columbine.  Thanks Cindy.  I can't always catch MOM's mistakes, there is only so much I can do.  But we do have bleeding heart next to these.

The lilacs

And this crazy flower that just showed up out of nowhere in a flower bed.

I sure hope MOM gets to mow tomorrow other wise she just might lose some more of her marbles and trust me she really needs to keep the ones she has left.
Blessings,
Goose

  1. Such lovely flowers and the tree is a delight but mowing would make my momma all kinds of sneezy and give her red eyes and make her talk like she was holding her nose. Good thing we do not have grass, huh? Hopefully tomorrow will be a glorious day to give the lawn a trim.

  2. My Mommy totally hates cutting the grass, but my Sister likes the exercise so that works for us. I love all the pretty stuff growing by you. I live in Michigan and daffys are starting to come up and our trees are flowery too. My Mommy thinks that your tree is maybe some kind of crabapple. I love how your are inspecting the mower, good job! We must keep our Peeps safe.

  3. I am not sure about the tree, but I would guess an apple tree. I think that hose hook up for the mower is cool too. BTW the flower labeled as a bleeding heart above is a columbine. Have fun helping mom mow the lawn.

  8. What a great, new shiny addition to your family! I hope 'Toro' and your Mom have many, many years together working hard together in the sun! :-)!!!

The flowers are really lovely!! We have gray skies and fog here, so color is a welcome treat at the start of my day!

  9. Goose, is it a cherry blossom? There were cherry blossoms all over Japan when I visited a couple years ago. From afar it looks like them. Close up, well, let's just let the cat out of the bag, I'm really bad at identifying different plants and trees in our yard.

Also, your mom's not alone. When I was growing up one of my FAVORITE things to do was cut the grass. I LOVED when my shoes turned green. Smelling the grass and watching lines form across the yard was the best!

  10. It is amazing what little things make us humans happy, isn't it? I cannot believe how many flowers you have blooming. We have at least 2 months until columbines bloom. You're so lucky!

I don't really have any idea about the tree but the blossom looks a little like a cherry tree blossom that I saw once. That's my guess.

  14. We are pretty sure those are crabapple blooms - very pretty.

AND now that it has rained that grass must be twice the height. Mom says that is a really cool feature with the watering hole.

  15. I just love your Momma's new lawn mower! That blue hole is the best idea ever! I think your tree is a crab apple. We have a few around here that look like that! Hope your Momma gets to try out her new mower soon! :)

  16. hey Goose,

Yay to your mom for finding a super lawn mower! I love the smell of the yard after it has been mowed. I just don't appreciate how loud the mower is.

The flowers in your yard are spectacular! And the flowering tree is very pretty, but no idea. Bitter cherry?

  19. My mom got all excited about that hose thingie on your mower; she gets goofy about stuff like that.
We love seeing your flowers! Our guess for the tree is an ornamental pear tree.
