This is the Rev. Jim Gulley our guest preacher that Sunday. Pastor Jim was in Haiti when that big earthquake happened and he and some of is colleagues were trapped under the rubble of the Hotel Montana. They had just entered the lobby when five floors came crashing down on them. Burying them for 55 hours. If ya have time and would like to read more about his story just click HERE.
Pastor Jim had never heard of a church who welcomes dogs in the worship service. We quickly won him over. I am so thankful my Pastor MOM started this. She is now being asked if it can be every Sunday. BOL! What's that saying, "Going to the Dogs"? hahhaha Well I guess our church is going to the dogs, and that isn't a bad thing.
Blessings,
Goose
As you know, My Vickie was out of town last week and she is pretty upset she didnt' get to hear Pastor Jim.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can get him to come back next month. She promised we could go.
Oh that looks so great!!! Right now we are awaiting word on whether Lucy can attend with mom and dad since she is in training to be a seeing eye dog. We'd love to all go though. What a sight that'd be... all seven of us d-o-g's and the six humans... BOL!!
ReplyDeleteAROOOOOOOF!

Did I see little Murphy & Stanley in those pictures? It looks like everyone was having a nice time at the service.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Everyone looks so happy. I can see the love these people have for their dogs. Great pictures! If I lived near your church I would attend!

ReplyDeleteLoveys Sasha
p.s. Mommy says Rev. Jims story is incredible.
Wonderful pictures of the dogs. Pastor Jim sure has some story.
ReplyDeletegreat idea, and a new one to me. great shots of the visitors.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS! In Atlanta the Braves baseball team has Bark in the Park throughout the season. What if you have "Bark in the Ark"...okay, that's all I could come up with. Clearly I need to be brainstorming more deeply. Your Church isn't an Ark...what could it be? This is so awesome. If we could all see beautiful the way dogs do the world would be a better place to live for sure!
ReplyDeleteI think it's AWESOME that doggies are allowed to go to church! Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteWoofs & huggies, <3
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
Goose, I think it's just great that people's doggies get to go to church with them! I think it could help some people feel more comfortable. Going to the dogs.....love it!
ReplyDeleteThats a new one on me with taking the dogs to church, but hey why not - its a fun thing to do. Dont suppose you had any objections from the cat lovers ?
ReplyDeleteFascinating photos X
I love this. Im not a church goer currently but I would say if I could take my dog that might make me go more often. Thank you for sharing this with us!
ReplyDeleteWe don't know of any churches here that offer a regular time for dogs to come to church, just a few that do the annual blessing of the pets. We love seeing all the pups who came. We especially like the ones who sat on their humans' laps.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

Hi Goose, I love your church and the bring your dog to church Sundays; I think it is a marvelous idea. Loved hearing about your guest speaker. I have a favor-would you ask your mom what breed the two dogs are in the third to the last photo-a lady and man are holding them, in their beds. They look about the size I want to get..any info would be helpful.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful week.
Hugs, Noreen
Wow - this is so interesting! I never heard of this before - thanks for sharing the story and pics!

Hi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteWow! You are so lucky Goose! Only thing my Human says happened monthly was communion. We do have boat church when we're at the shore. My Human says even communion isn't monthly any more.
Snowin' and blowin' here so I thought I'd just hop by to say "hi" and see how y'all are doing.
Hope y'all had a great weekend and have a fantastic week!
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
What a wonderful loving church you have. We can't bring dogs to our church but I sure wish we could. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures. It warmed my heart.
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome! We wish we could go to church with our mom and dad! We would even be on our best behavior! Your mom is 'pawesome' :)

Woof to you Goose!!!! I wish every houses of worship was truly for ALL of G-d's creatures like yours. It looks like most of your MOM's parishioners are crazy dog lovers. In which pew were you sitting? If I had been there, I would have loved to sit in between you and those gorgeous English Springer Spaniels. Much love - XXOO -Mazzie
ReplyDeleteThis is soo cool Goose! Me thinks animals in church is a good thing.

Nellie
PS Thanks so much for yous and your Mommy's prayers. me is feeling better.
kudos to pastor mom
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
I bet a lot more people would show up if dogs got to come to church every week! If you start offering dogs cheese treats at the door, I bet they'll even wake the humans up on Sundays to get them to church on time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joyful way to celebrate your faith and to remember that God loves ALL his creatures!
ReplyDeleteHowdy Goose, looks like you all had a great get together. Hope your week is as good. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteThat's most awesome that doggies can go to your church! We gets to go once a year for the blessing of the animals and we think its lots of fun! We specially likes all the singing!
ReplyDeleteSam and Pippen
WOW! Wow! We just read the story of Pastor Jim's experience in the earthquake! What a miracle that he was rescued!
ReplyDeleteWe love that your MOM has services where us pups are welcome. I can tell the pups like being there, worshipping with their peeps, and the people seem so relaxed! It's like they can worship freely and not worry if their pups are OK back home. What a really great idea! Your MOM rocks, Goose!!!
Play bows,
Zim
Our church sent a missions team to Haiti this week for just a week. Been praying for them. That is so cool your church allows people to bring their dogs with them once a month. I wish ours did that, after all she is part of the family too and one of God's "better" creations!
