Wonderful Wednesday

Why is it a wonderful Wednesday?  Well let me tell you.  MOM picked me up from daycare (Bert's place) and she said, "Don't you look spunky."  You know what, I felt spunky.  When we got home MOM started to mow the yard.  Normally it takes MOM about 2 hours to mow my yard, it's a big yard.  But today it took her 3 hours and 40 minutes.  It was sort of tall and it was still a little damp from the last storm.  The first wonderful thing to happen was I walked every step with MOM as she mowed.  I like to walk right beside her every inch of the way, unless a doggie walks by my fence then I go say hello.

After she was done I went and brought Sneaky Snake out to play.  Now that the grass is cut I won't lose him in the tall grass.  Plus he is green so it might have been real hard to find Mr. Sneaky.  After I played with Sneaky Snake I had to.... well I'm just going to say it, I had to poop.  I thought MOM was going to jump out of her skin with joy because there was no squirty sound when I pooped.  Thank goodness she did not have the camera for that picture.  I don't know what the big deal is.  I think next time she has to... you know, I will bark and howl and see how she likes it.

Then I went in the house and I loved on my blankie.  One of the draw backs (for MOM) in mowing grass that is damp is my paws turn green.  Can you see that?  Again, I don't see the problem.  Oh and she said something about tracking grass into the house.

Then I felt hungry.  So I ate my kibble!  MOM hugged the stuffing out of me for that.  I figure a 10 day hunger strike was long enough.   I just wanted to shed a few pounds for swimsuit season.  But I do plan to score some of that canned food MOM bought when she was trying to get me to eat.

Then I was tired so I hopped in to bed and brought my monkey with me and went to sleep.  I sleep with him when MOM is not there with me.  You may have noticed I brought some grass with me to bed.  I don't think MOM will mind.  It will be like when we go backpacking and we sleep under the stars on the grass.

It seems that I might be back to normal.  I am eating, I have energy, I am not throwing up, I am pooping in a way that makes MOM happy.  It's still a mystery why I was so sick for so long.  Even so, it's a wonderfully beautiful day indeed.
Blessings,
Goose

  21. Not to get too personal here (or is that "dog"onal?) but when we haven't felt good, our mom says there's nothing quite so beautiful as a healthy poop and a good appetite. Mom's kind of funny like that. I'll bet hanging out with Mr. Sneaky Snake helped you out a lot, too!
It was very nice of you to help your MOM mow the lawn. I watched my mom pull weeds yesterday (from inside the air conditioning ...) and it was just exhausting. I hope you didn't over-do! Napping with your monkey sounds like a good plan.
We're going to say a prayer of thanks that you're doing so much better - and will keep you in our prayers. This is just GREAT news!!!
    Luv,
    Dave

  23. Woof to you Goose!!!! My mom and I are SO HAPPY that you are back to eating, pooping and playing. You were on our minds during your entire 10 day hunger strike.

I love the photo of you above with your Invincible Snake in your yard. It looks like so much fun, but it would be hard for me to replicate the experience because like everyone else in Manhattan, I don't have a yard.

But maybe I'll try bringing my Invincible Snake to the park with me next time I go. Much love - XXOO - Mazzie

  34. I am well-acquainted with the sound of good, happy doggy poops. Duncan has had belly issues since The Great Yarn Crisis of 2006 and sometimes, for no reason at all, we'll have a week of bad, squirty-sounding, desperate, take-me-out-now-even-though-it's-two-in-the-morning type poops. It's not a pleasant thing, on a January night, to stand under the clouds in the cold and listen to that sound. So when it does finally turn... solid... it's joyous music to my ears.

And that's why I love my dog, and why, I'm sure, most people love theirs (although they may not admit to it or even notice it): I love the magic of taking joy in the simple things they help us discover, be they the smell of the breeze, the green of doggy feet after a walk through freshly-mown grass, or the nice, solid sound of a happy poop.

Now *THIS* is what living is all about. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Blessings to Goose's health, and yours, too, Michelle.
