Wonderful Wednesday

Why is it a wonderful Wednesday?  Well let me tell you.  MOM picked me up from daycare (Bert's place) and she said, "Don't you look spunky."  You know what, I felt spunky.  When we got home MOM started to mow the yard.  Normally it takes MOM about 2 hours to mow my yard, it's a big yard.  But today it took her 3 hours and 40 minutes.  It was sort of tall and it was still a little damp from the last storm.  The first wonderful thing to happen was I walked every step with MOM as she mowed.  I like to walk right beside her every inch of the way, unless a doggie walks by my fence then I go say hello.

After she was done I went and brought Sneaky Snake out to play.  Now that the grass is cut I won't lose him in the tall grass.  Plus he is green so it might have been real hard to find Mr. Sneaky.  After I played with Sneaky Snake I had to.... well I'm just going to say it, I had to poop.  I thought MOM was going to jump out of her skin with joy because there was no squirty sound when I pooped.  Thank goodness she did not have the camera for that picture.  I don't know what the big deal is.  I think next time she has to... you know, I will bark and howl and see how she likes it.

Then I went in the house and I loved on my blankie.  One of the draw backs (for MOM) in mowing grass that is damp is my paws turn green.  Can you see that?  Again, I don't see the problem.  Oh and she said something about tracking grass into the house.

Then I felt hungry.  So I ate my kibble!  MOM hugged the stuffing out of me for that.  I figure a 10 day hunger strike was long enough.   I just wanted to shed a few pounds for swimsuit season.  But I do plan to score some of that canned food MOM bought when she was trying to get me to eat.

Then I was tired so I hopped in to bed and brought my monkey with me and went to sleep.  I sleep with him when MOM is not there with me.  You may have noticed I brought some grass with me to bed.  I don't think MOM will mind.  It will be like when we go backpacking and we sleep under the stars on the grass.

It seems that I might be back to normal.  I am eating, I have energy, I am not throwing up, I am pooping in a way that makes MOM happy.  It's still a mystery why I was so sick for so long.  Even so, it's a wonderfully beautiful day indeed.

  17. BEAUTFUL day indeed! Whew-whoo!!! Goose, I've never been so happy to read about poop. AND you're eating! And you're play with your scrumptious sneaky snake? This is a wonderful day indeed! Keep feeling better.

  18. Moms get excited over the silly things....go figure! I am so glad to see that you are feeling better!

  19. Oh what a relief! Goose looks very glossy in the photos. Nice job mowing MOM!!! Nice lines!

  20. That's just about the best thing I've heard!!! So glad that you are getting past whatever this was that had you down. Praise God!!

  21. Not to get too personal here (or is that "dog"onal?) but when we haven't felt good, our mom says there's nothing quite so beautiful as a healthy poop and a good appetite. Mom's kind of funny like that. I'll bet hanging out with Mr. Sneaky Snake helped you out a lot, too!
It was very nice of you to help your MOM mow the lawn. I watched my mom pull weeds yesterday (from inside the air conditioning ...) and it was just exhausting. I hope you didn't over-do! Napping with your monkey sounds like a good plan.
We're going to say a prayer of thanks that you're doing so much better - and will keep you in our prayers. This is just GREAT news!!!

  22. I'm very happy too dear Goose that everything is good now! I like you very much! Take care Your Charlotte

  23. Woof to you Goose!!!! My mom and I are SO HAPPY that you are back to eating, pooping and playing. You were on our minds during your entire 10 day hunger strike.

I love the photo of you above with your Invincible Snake in your yard. It looks like so much fun, but it would be hard for me to replicate the experience because like everyone else in Manhattan, I don't have a yard.

But maybe I'll try bringing my Invincible Snake to the park with me next time I go. Much love - XXOO - Mazzie

  24. Hellooo Goose ~ We are happy that you are all better. Ten days on a hunger strike is too long. You do a great job of supervisings the yard work, your grass is soooo green.
    Sweet William The Scot

  25. Glad to hear you are eating and your stomach is getting better!! I miss the grass!!

  26. Sometimes tummy bugs just get persistent! I'm so glad you're feeling so much better! I love seeing you do all those things you love. It's a tail wagger, for sure!

  27. That sounds like a very busy day. Cutting grass is a big job. We have learned that good appetites make a mom very happy. Glad that everything is getting back to normal. So how long will your feet stay green?

  28. Glad to hear you feeling better. I've never puked, but even saying the word sounds bad.

Me loves yous Goose and me was so worried.
    Me sends yous kitty kisses

  32. Oh Goose, this is wonderful news! I'm so glad you feel better. You did an awfully lot today. If I was your mom I'd forgive you for getting the grass on the bed, after all, you've been feeling so poorly. I'm sure your mom doesn't mind. So happy you were able to eat.

  33. Oh thank GOD ~~~ So happy you are finally better Goose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. I am well-acquainted with the sound of good, happy doggy poops. Duncan has had belly issues since The Great Yarn Crisis of 2006 and sometimes, for no reason at all, we'll have a week of bad, squirty-sounding, desperate, take-me-out-now-even-though-it's-two-in-the-morning type poops. It's not a pleasant thing, on a January night, to stand under the clouds in the cold and listen to that sound. So when it does finally turn... solid... it's joyous music to my ears.

And that's why I love my dog, and why, I'm sure, most people love theirs (although they may not admit to it or even notice it): I love the magic of taking joy in the simple things they help us discover, be they the smell of the breeze, the green of doggy feet after a walk through freshly-mown grass, or the nice, solid sound of a happy poop.

Now *THIS* is what living is all about. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Blessings to Goose's health, and yours, too, Michelle.

  35. HaHa..I thought my white paws were the only ones that turned green in the grass!
I'm so glad your tummy is feeling better and you will be able to enjoy your Easter!

    Your furiend,

  36. Goose, we are howling with happiness that you are finally feeling better. We were SO worried. Even if they never figure out what it was we hope you are totally fixed up and it will never happen again.

  37. Goose, I know the feelings your Mom had as you 'did your business' and it was 'business as usual!!' I've been keeping you in my prayers that you regain your health, and I will hope that today, you still are feeling like yourself--Green, grassy paw prints and all!!

  38. Goose, we are most delighted to hear this wonderful news! And just in time for Easter.
