Warning

Hello friends.  First let say to my friend Zim over at Army Of Four that what I had planed for today, that I know would thrill you, will have to wait for a day or two.
Here is everypup's and everycat's warning.  The following might make you a bit wobbly.  I know my MOM is now a bit wobbly looking at the pictures.  But she was a champ through the whole thing.
Let me set the stage.  So there I was helping my MOM with some yard stuff, you know, trimming the grass, trimming the hedges, pulling weeds, picking up apples that have fallen off the tree.  I was just about to  help MOM mow the yard when we went inside for a moment to get a drink and check the phone for any messages.  MOM looked over at me and she wondered why I was licking my paws.  On closer inspection she noticed my paws all the way up to my elbows were bloody.  Her heart went into her throat.  She kept looking and looking but there were no cuts on my paws anywhere, yet there was blood all over my furs.  As MOM sat there on the floor with me I sneezed.  Blood went all over the wall, the carpet, and on MOM.  That's when she noticed I had a bloody nose.  She quickly put my collar on to head to Dr. Eddie's.  Of course we did not make it out the door before I sneezed in the kitchen and the bedroom.
Remember I WARNED you.

My bloody paws.  I licked up a bit so it doesn't look to bad.

I was bleeding all over the exam room and on the scale and in the lobby and on MOM's feet and her knees (that;s where I would lay my head).  Dr. Eddie squirted something in my nose  to help stop the bleeding.  He left saying, "I'm going to go prepare some stuff.  There dosen't seem to be anything in the nostrils and he is bleeding from both."  I could feel how heavy MOM's heart was.

MOM was like 87 kinds of worried.  I put on my happy face and said, "Hey, come on MOM, all boys get a bloody nose once in a while."  Then I gave her a big kiss.

Then Dr. Eddie took some of my blood.  Not sure why he had to stick a needle in my chest to get it, I mean it was flowing out of my nose.  But it didn't hurt.  I did not even flinch when he stuck the needle it.

"Come on MOM put a smile on your face.  I'm going to be just fine. See, smile just like I am smiling."  Yea that worked, she gave me a smile and hugged me.  Works every time.  I can always make her smile.

I gave MOM lots of kisses.  It seemed to make her feel better.  I think those were happy tears in her eyes.

It seems it is a mystery why I am bleeding from my nose.  There is nothing in my nose.  No cuts either.  The x-rays of my nose and chest are all A-OK.  I am my happy self.  I gladly ate the treats they gave me.  When Miss Vickie came over to see me at Dr. Eddies I wiggled my butt real fast when I saw her.  It is a mystery friends.  I got to go home with MOM with 3 different pills to take and some stuff for her to squirt in my nose.  He told her to watch me carefully and what to look for.  AND Dr. Eddie told MOM to NOT wash the blood off my neck and face or paws.  No bath!  He wants me to keep calm for a few days and does not want a bath to stress me.  You got to love a doctor who tells your MOM to not give you a bath.

So here I am resting and keeping calm.  Sneaky Snake is helping me keep calm.  He even brought me my comfort blankie.  I think MOM needs the blankie more than me.
Blessings,
Goose

  1. Goose buddy, you sure did worry our humans. I mean, when My Vickie got the call from your mom, she rushed out the door. I didnt' know what was wrong. When she came back she said you were ok for now and that you had to be watched carefully. I guess that tomorrow, we wont be able to play when you come. My Vickie says no running with you for a day or two,
Glad you are not bleeding anymore an I promise to NOT play with you tomorrow at Day Care.

  17. Oh Goose I hope all will be well and you will be recovered soon. So they took x-rays and didn't find anything? I was wondering if one of those nasty cheat grass seeds might have gotten in there, but I suppose it would show on the x-ray even if tiny.

  22. Oh my goodness! I'm glad that you're okay now! My mom would have been pretty worried, too. A friend of ours got a foxtail (the weed, not from a real fox) in her nose and it ended up causing her all kinds of problems! They even did surgery on her to take it out. I sure hope it wasn't something like that! Please know that we have our paws crossed for you to find out it was something silly like a broken blood vessel from sneezing too much.

  24. Oh my goodness Goose, I have tears in my eyes cuz I'm so worried for you and your mom. Hope it something like allergies (that's what I'm suffering from right now) and they get to the root of the problem quickly. As for now stay calm and rest--tell mom that too!! Take care and I'll be praying for you and mom.

  25. Yikes, it sure sounds like you scared your mom! That wasn't a nice thing to do, so you should probably stop bleeding. I know a little blood is nothing to us guys, but it would really make her feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  26. By the way, we've had some dogs in my rescue with bloody noses. A really common cause is ehrlichia, which is a tick-born illness. That's probably what the V-E-T took the blood to check for.

  31. Gee Goose, you keep scaring us with this stuff too! We bet your mom really needs that blanket so you better just snuggle up to her and calm her nerves about this. We sure hope this isn't anything serious so you be careful and get some rest!

  32. Goose, I'm here praying that whatever caused your nose bleed will never return. I know how incredibly scary this was for your mom; when my Sadie vomited blood-there is nothing worse than having our beloved companions not well. I'm glad there wasn't something seriously wrong. Please give your momma lots of love for us.
    We love you guys!

  34. Oh dear sweet Goose, that is so scary. Maybe you got something up your nose that is irritating it but just can't be seen. We hope all these meds fix you up really well. All paws crossed here for you.

  35. Oh, no! Oh, Goose, my friend!!! What's going on?!?!? This is mighty scary! Please, please, please do all the stuff your doctor told you to do and GET BETTER!!!
We're going to pray for you. It's about all we can do from here, but it's a pretty big thing. I hope maybe just something irritated your nose and made you sneeze too hard or something. Who knows?
Please give your MOM extra kisses. I'm not a real kissing kinda guy, but when it's really needed, I have this signature "one kiss on the nose" thing I do for bipeds. Would you deliver one to your MOM for me?!? And please hug her for Dave. She's gotta be super worried about you!
    Feel good, buddy!
    Play bows,

  41. Hi Big Goose,
I had a bloody nose once, and I caused it. I thought it was fun to rub my head on the concreate sidewalk. Well, I rubed so much, that my nose started to bleed. Who knew. My nose healed up, and I learned never to rub and rub on the concreate again. I hope yours is just a random nose bleed.

  42. Oh my gosh. How scary and weird that they don't know what caused it. Reminds me of a news story I heard today about a little boy that was having breathing problems for 3 years. Come to find out he stuck a lego piece up his nose and none of the doctors figured it out until 3 years later, Yuck. Hope you don't have another nose bleed. Starr sends sloppy kisses and butt wiggles to cheer you up and make you feel better.

  43. Moms are like that, they are made of steel but you know inside they are just like jello...it is because they do what needs to be done but they are afraid. You did the perfect thing to be brave and make MOM smile.

We do not like medical mysteries so we are sending our strongest White Dog positive thoughts and healing energies that the vet will figure it out and that it was just a one-time thing (like too much yardwork).

  44. Oh dear Goose that is so scary. We have never heard of doggy bloody nose. We can only imagine how worried your mom must be. Wonder if it could be crazy allergies? We pray the doc can figure it out and it never happens again.

  45. Dear Goose, get well soon, hope the reason is harmless and this will not happen to you again. Maybe it was a spikelet of the grass, what you got into your nose?

  48. Oh Goose! Your Momma must have been so stressed over this! I am glad to hear that everything seems to be okay. My late basset Barney had the same thing happen. It only happened once and we still don't know why or what caused it. He was fine after, just like you will be sweetie. :)

  49. Oh my goodness, Goose! How scary! I read yesterday's post and saw that you are okay but the vet doesn't know why you were bleeding. I hope he figures it out soon because we don't want the bleeding to start up again!

  50. I hope they figure out what's causing your bloody nose Goose. We only want happy tears from your Mom. Maybe you just sneezed real hard? That can do it sometimes :)

  51. Oh my, Goose, that does sound scary. I hope that all is well. Since you posted this quite a few days ago... I'm going to guess that all is okay. Did you get the bath yet?

R had a bath yesterday. He very rarely gets them, and he hated it! He's having bad allergies this year so we needed to wash his fur deep down to the roots.

Anyway, I hope that you're well, my friend.
