One of our favorite spots
MOM loves turkeys. She says it's easier to sneak up on them when I am not there. I don't know what she means.
One of our favorite things to do is walk through the Aspens.
And sometimes when you do you come across a young Buck. MOM also said it is easier to do when I am not there. Again I don't know what she means.
These are Kill Deer eggs. We have been watching them for a couple months. The momma bird refuses to leave them even though they will never hatch. She stood just a few feet away while MOM took the picture. And when MOM walked away she flew right back and sat on the nest.
All I have to say is good thing for this squirrel I was not there. Next time evil squirrel.
When MOM was up on a ridge she looked down and saw what she thought were two deer. But NO! They are some sort of giant bird. I said they were Emu's. But MOM said they were not but could not tell me what they were. So until she does, they are Emu's.
Then they found a couple of Moose brothers.
These two guys were having their dinner.
Now some of you have asked if my MOM uses the zoom on her camera to get these close shots. Well not really. I know that can be hard to believe. So I offer the following photo as proof.
And now you know why I titled this post "MOM is Crazy!"
When MOM was teaching me Moose manners one of the thing she said was I could not get close to them. Now I am wondering what her definition of "close" is.
Who does she think she is, "The Moose Whisper"?
Then it was time to come home to me.
This is how I spent my time while MOM was talking to some Moose. I'm all rested up now and ready to go find that pesky evil squirrel.
Blessings,
Goose
Hi Goose stunning pictures your mum took and I'm with you re the evil squiggles!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Your Momma and Miss Vickie got some wonderful pictures in the mountains. They are beautiful. But I agree your Momma must be crazy to get that close to a moose! They can be very mean. She is one brave woman! What a beautiful sunset picture. :)
ReplyDeleteWe worry about you MOM being so up close 'n personal with those moosies--- if Mama Moose was nearby there could be a different ending to your photo journalism. Just sayin.... they are pretty fierce up here and have been proven to stomp people to death, thus I must worry about you getting close.. use the Zoom please!!!
ReplyDeletehahahahahah..."The Moose Whisper" !!! but I you're right Goose, your Momma seems to be too close the moose - it may be dangerous !
ReplyDeleteThose turkeys look delicious !!!
Love the pictures !
Kisses
Iris
Your mom is scary close to that moose. I think she should get a 600mm lens for her camera and step way back.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I am SURE that YOU are correct, Goose. THAT looked like an EMU to me too. So tell your mom... quit GROUSE'in.
ReplyDeleteOMD OMD... Your MOM went THAT CLOSE to Bullwinkle???? I am STUNNED. TOTALLY STUNNED. THAT THINGY could have made MINCEDmom outta her!! I can NOT believe she did that.
Love Each and EVERY picture. WOW!!! We have Kill Deer here too.
Hi Goose, I loved these photos-look like they could have been in parts of Colorado or Wyoming; I didn't know you had Moose in Utah.
ReplyDeleteO.k. so I've been told that we shouldn't get tooooo close to Moose either because they can turn on you lickity split and hurt a body-so tell your mom to please be very careful(she is much too important to take such risks). Glad you had a fun day. Maybe next time you'll get to go.
Wags,Noreen & Hunter
p.s. Hunter can get on the old leather couch in the family room but I want him to be asked to get on the newer one; guess that might be confusing. I'll have to rethink this.
I thought your MOM was the Goose Whisperer, not the Moose Whisperer! Ha roo roo roo!!! That is SO COOL that she gets so close to them. They're really cool.
ReplyDeleteWe just love all the pix she took! Why won't the Kill Deer eggs hatch? We have Kill Deers here and I really like them.
I wonder what kind of birdie that is! It's not some kind of heron or something, is it?
Play bows,
Zim
Goose,Your blog is one of the highlights of our day. We love the adventures you and your Mom, Bert & Vickie go on. The photos are always great as are the wildlife shots.
ReplyDeleteWe wonder if one of the Moose your Mom saw was Bullwinkle, we are pretty sure the squirrel was Rocket J Squirrel his partner in crime.

Loved the photographs! And yes, it does appear your mom is the Moose Whisperer.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, I know the truth about that moose picture with your mom in it. See My Vickie was behind her to take that picture and your mom knows she can run faster than My Vickie so if the moose was to charge, she were just going to turn and run off in front of My Vickie. And because she can run faster, the My Vickie would have to deal with the Moose first and that would give your mom enough time to get back to the trail head and get help.
ReplyDeleteThats what I like about your human, she things fastest on her feet.
The pictures are beautiful! Thank you for taking me on a tour with your Crazy Mom. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think your bird is a sandhill crane. You can see some red on the top of the head. Some nest in Utah. I see them up by Oakley and Midway. Wonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteYour emu looks like some sort of crane. I'm so glad you have your mom home with you! It must be so exciting!
ReplyDeleteIf you get to come to SLC with your mom, remind MY mom not to wash so I can smell you on her when she gets home! I hear there's going to be all sorts of great stuff there!
Bunny
It sure looks like some buddy had a wonderful time. Wildlife are beautiful
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily

ReplyDeleteWe agree with you Goose , your mom is way to close to that moose !
ReplyDeleteYour friends,
Murphy and Stanley
Howdy Goose, The Moose Whisperer?? Oh you crack us up mate. We loved your mum's photos. Anytime she wants to share moose photos, we would love to see them. What the heck are Kill Deer eggs? Sorry never heard of them and why does the poor bird keep sitting on them? No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteSure looks like your mom and Miss V. had a great time and WOW she sure did get close to that moose. EEK!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Moose brothers seem to be friendly chaps. Probably not so much with dogs..good to take the day off, Goose!
ReplyDeleteWyatt
Yikes, you need to tell you mom that moose manners 101 clearly states not to get to close! She better be careful or she might be on 87 years of extreme crate rest like me for a hurt back!!
ReplyDelete~Higgins
Great trip for Mom, such wonderful wildlife photos. We too can't believe how close SHE was allowed to get to that moose. Something's not quite fair about that, Goose.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Wonderful mountain photos...and like everybody else says please tell your MOM to be careful with those moose!!
ReplyDeleteWow Goose! Your mommy is brave! Last time mommy was close to a Moose, it pawed the ground and Mommy backed off!
ReplyDeleteKisses

Even though you did not get to join MOM, thank you for sharing her photos. They are lovely and so serene.
ReplyDeleteWow, we can't believe she was able to get that close to the Moose, yeah she is crazy. that must have been scary & exciting. What beautiful pictures. Poor momma bird. Those mountains sure are pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe silvers and more
Thank you for sharing that journey. Those are beautiful pictures. That moosedog is huge. Your Mommy is very brave or a little nutty for getting so close. Was she thinking of bringing one home for you to play with? I am glad you got some much needed rest.
ReplyDeleteLoveys Sasha

Woof to you Goose!!!! You'll get that pesky squirrel, of that I'm certain. And I'm pretty confident you could take on the turkey and the deer, but stay away from the moose. I am SUPER jealous of your dragon toy .... Much you to you - XXOO - Mazzie
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! Your mom is not Crazy at all ... my mom does the same thing. LOVE the Moose photos n can't believe they got soooo close. My mom says she wish she can join them. Lots of Golden ALOHA n Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteGoose, you pretty much live in the coolest place ever! Kill Deer eggs, Moose, sticks, mountains, sneaky snake, water, what more can a sweet puppy ask for? Not a thing! Happy seeing beautful - as always!
ReplyDeleteYour mom takes beautiful pictures Goose! You are so lucky to live where you can see a moose, sneak up on some deer and chase squirrels! That would be the best ever!
ReplyDeleteYou and Vickie will laugh... We now officially have a moose hanging out in our little neck of the woods. I've captured video of him 3 times and the neighbors have seen him from their windows.
ReplyDeleteEveryone in our area is COMPLETELY freaking out. I met a woman on the trails last night carrying a BIG rock and two pans. That was artillary to save her from the mad moose. I guess that she planned to bang the pans together and maybe throw the rock (I hope not).
These are the same people who can deal with cougars and bears in their yards.
Great photos!!!! Absolutely fabulous. I wish that I could go up to the mountains with your mom and Vickie. My K is pretty well trained to be quiet around wildlife but not R! He has to stay home like you do.
BOL, the Moose Whisperer!! Tell your mommy to be carefully, dats not Bulkwinkle!!
ReplyDeleteYour furiend,
Winston
The moose photographs are fantastic. We can't believe your Mum managed to go so close to them.
ReplyDeleteMolly, Taffy, Monty and Winnie
Wonderful pictures, but you need to tell your Mom to be careful of the moose. :)
ReplyDeleteWe don't see Moose round our way - nice to see some pics of them - thanks x
