Morning Hike

Hello Friends.

For the last two weeks my MOM's work schedule has been INSANE!  Butt on Saturday MOM said, "Enough is enough".  We woke up early and to my surprise after MOM had her coffee she put on her HIKING BOOTS.  Wooooooo to the Hoooooo.  And we were off on an adventure, a morning hike.  Come along with me my friends.

Oh MY Oh MY!!!  Did I have a great time!  I also wanted to point out in the video you saw a picture of some thick brush.  Then the next picture is of me coming out of that brush.  Let me tell you why in one word.....SNAKE.  MOM at first could not figure out why I came bursting out of the brush.  She even said, "Come on Goosie, lets go."  Butt I would not budge and I would not keep following that trail.  I stayed behind her and kept wiggling back.  Then MOM realized that is my "snake alert" action.  Now, MOM never saw the snake, and I may not have either.  BUTT I now know what a bad snake smells like and I was having none of it.  So we went another way.  Hope you enjoyed coming on my hike with me.

  1. Crikey Goose .... just as well you did that snake avoidance class, aye?? How good was that?? You sure looked like you enjoyed your walk. What a beautiful place for a hike!! Only thing that would have made that hike better was if a big Roo hopped out from the bushes so you to chase him.

Strewth well done on the snake alert Goose!!! I felt like I was right there with you on this hike. Nice work. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  3. Clever you Goose. You must have been on high alert for a reason. Glad you got to go on a hike with mum and apart from sneaky snake it was a good one. Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

  4. well done Goose - you remembered it well and stayed clear. What a wonderful way to spend the morning and it is so pretty

  5. Yikes! We don't want to see a live snake, either! *shiver* It looks like an awesome hike, though! I think almost all my friends so far today have been on a weekend hike, which is pretty darned awesome!

  6. I bet you were right... there was a snake somewhere and it was good to take another way. Many thanks for taking me with you! It's great to walk in the morning when all things are fresh and brand new... like in that song of the cat named Stevens Morning has broken .

As I sit here missing Cody (and having a dog to just take to our complex's dog park) your post about your hike was the best thing possible.

As you know Cody crossed the bridge on Friday after a very short (2 weeks) diagnosis, etc., of the cancerous tumor on her leg. She was in an obvious amount of pain and discomfort on Friday, and when we went into the examination room and there were drops of blood from the tumor -- I knew it was time to say goodbye. It was getting harder for her to walk, and even when she lay down she was in obvious discomfort. It did not really hit until this morning because I was still dogsitting the little Pom, but he went home last night and, as I say, it felt weird (after 9 years) not to have to get up and take the dog out early in the morning. I am looking for another dog, and have a couple of possibilities -- not to replace Cody (no dog could ever do that) but instead of -- so I think I will get a dog totally different to her.

Again, Gooose thanks for the uplifting post (as usual).

  8. Oh, Goose! What a GOOD MORNING walk! (And we loved the song to go with it!) I'm so glad your MOM could take the time to do that with you; I'm sure it did both of you a lot of good. Did you find any good sticks out there?
I'm so glad you took that sneaky-snake course! Whew!
    Yours sincerely,
    Margaret Thatcher

  9. Good job warning Mom about a nasty snake.

  10. Hi Goose
That looks like a lovely morning hike :) Milo & Jet

  12. Good job watching out for the snake Goosie!

    Your Pals,

  13. Dear, sweet Goose. So glad that your snake awareness training was that effective. It's very cool that you can smell them, without having to see them - in the underbrush, or in the shadows or any other place snakes can hide.

You are just such a great dog, Goose. You do such a great job of protecting your mum from all the bad things out in the world.

That's a beautiful location y'all hiked in, too.

We're just more amazed about you. You're just generally a wonder-dog:-)

PS: Condolences to Cody's peeps, whom we haven't met. Losing a dog that you love is a pain like no other.

  15. Hi Y'all!

    Good boy Goose!

    Y'all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  16. Oh, how smart you are, Goose! That's wonderful that you picked up on your 8th sense: A snake sense. I know the training was tough, but how beautifully that was reflected in your actions. yes!!
