Thankful

Hello Friends.

I am so thankful this Thursday.  I am thankful for many things, but I want to tell you about a couple of things that just make me smile.

Remember Gracie?  She was the dog that was attacked at the homeless shelter and because of many of you caring souls she was able to have the surgery and vet care she needed to save her life.  Well my friends I am so happy to tell you that last week Gracie and her companion were able to move out of the homeless shelter and into their very own place!!!  Both are very happy and very thankful for not only the help they received from St. Anne's to help them get back on their feet but very thankful for your love, prayers and donations that made it possible for Gracie to receive help and healing.

This is Norski.  He is the latest "resident" at St. Anne's Homeless Center.  Norski is just 4 months old and him and his mom are homeless.  As you know it is mighty cold here and when my MOM met Norski and his mom he was just a shivering.  While MOM did not have a doggie coat for Norski she was able to find a kids coat with a fleece lining to help keep him warm.  He is a sweet sweet boy and loves to snuggle.

Here we have Hope.  She is about 5 months old.  Hope and her dad found themselves homeless after overwhelming medical bills.  Hope is a little shy but she loves when my MOM brings her special treats.  She is real quiet and loves the children at the Center.

And finally meet Bullet.  Sorry the photo is blurring.  Bullet likes to move and my MOM took this with her phone.

Bullet and his mom have been at the shelter for a little while.  Well his mom has been there longer than him.  But the people who were helping her care for Bullet said they didn't want to anymore.  So now Bullet is at the shelter with his mom.  Bullet weighs, are you ready for this, he weighs 175lbs!!  But let me tell you he is one of the sweetest doggies you would ever want to meet.  His mom calls him Boo Boo. He loves when my MOM pets and wrestles with him.  He is friendly to everyone and he has a smile that in contagious.

I am thankful I have a warm and safe place to live and sleep.  And you know what?  So do these doggies I have just shown you.  I know I have told you in the past that because of a rule/law animals are not allowed in the Homeless Center.  And I have told you that when we build our new facility we will have a special place built were doggies can stay at the Center with their peeps.  Well friends I am thankful and happy to tell you that right now at the Homeless Center we are allowing doggies (and kitties too) to stay inside the Shelter with their peeps.  Is that great or what?!!!!!  Of course shelter rules have to be followed.  There can be no aggression towards others, no fighting, and no being threatening.  I am happy to tell you that all the doggies, and the one kitty, have understood this and have behaved very well.  And let me tell you how much the woman in the woman's dorm area LOVE having a dog or two up there with them.  They are bringing so much comfort and joy to more than there own humans.

This makes me very much thankful and happy.  That's why I smile.
Blessings,
Goose

  11. That is indeed a blessing - people don't often understand that when you have nothing - a pet gives you the will to go on - to fight for them and and such fight for yourself too. It is simply fantastic that the shelter is allowing people to have their pets with them.

  32. This is great news! There was just an interview on CBC radio about a lady who takes in animals of all kinds while women are in womens shelters because obviously, the pets are not allowed. If you have time you should search it on the CBC radio site. It's very interesting, she is a kind woman, just like you Goose!

  33. What a wonderful shelter you have there! So many heartwarming stories. It sure does make us stop for a moment and realize how very fortunate we all are to have a good home and not to ever want for a warm bed or a meal. How we wish the same could be true for all.
