Hello Friends.
This past Saturday at my church we had a really great fundraiser for the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home. We had a 5K run and 1 Mile Walk and a Chili Cook-Off. It was tons and tons of fun. Not only was there runnin' and chili but a bouncy house and horse rides and this really cool giant sling shot thingy that people flung pumpkins and water balloons and paper sacks of flour. We also had a pumpkin patch and a blood truck that people willingly gave up there blood to help others and more. I only got to be there for the before everything started and just the very beginning of the fun before MOM sent me away to rest. She thought all the excitement would be to much for me because, as you know, I am suppose to be on 10 days house arrest. Sunday I get released from my restrictions. But I think I have MOM talked into taking me to the Fort today, that is if she gets feeling better. ANYWAY... We raised lots of green papers for the veterans. Lots of people came and lots of them ran and some even with their dogs. And there was some mighty fine chili. My MOM made Goose Chili. I don't mean that she put my furs in it, it really was made with goose. Here a little video of just a little bit of the festivities. My favorite photos are of my gal pal Belle and her little peep, "L" on the horse. Enjoy.
Blessings,
Goose
sure looks like fun. Better not eat no chili

ReplyDeleteYes it was great fun! Sorry you only got to go to the start of it. We hope your mom is feeling better tomorrow. She was sounding kinda bad yesterday so we bet it was worse today. You and your mom better just snuggle up, have some chicken soup and Cheetos, and get some rest!
ReplyDeleteYour friends,
Murphy & Stanley
Oh, Mom has really been craving chili, and now you're stirring the pot! What a fun event! I hope you and your mom are both feeling better soon and able to get out and have fun.
ReplyDeleteBunny
That sure looked like a fun day. Too bad you couldn't stay for the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteCindy & Millie
I got kind of scared when I read runnin and chili cause when Mommy eats chili she does a lot of running BOL. What a cool day, I am sorry you had to go back home, but I am glad that you are healing up. Did you slip any voles or squirrels in the chili?? One of those doggies looks just like me.

Goose what a wonderful celebration bringing so many 2 and 4 leggers together for such a worthy cause. Goose Chili sounds quite delish...and quite frankly I think a little Goose furs would enhance it. Hugs your BFFF Madi
ReplyDeleteGoose chili. I have not tried that. Looks like a great day!
ReplyDeleteGoose chili! Love it! Looks like a fun and successful event!
ReplyDeleteGoose I have always wondered about somethingy...
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that they call that CHILI.. when they server it HOT?
Awesome event! Oh Frankie is thinking today! Ha ha! But now I want to know the answer too!
ReplyDeleteThis giant slingshot intrigues me. Momma spent last weekend throwing pumpkins and stuff with something called a "trebuchet", which she said is like a catapult. (Except it doesn't throw cats.) We should have a giant slingshot/trebuchet competition!
ReplyDeletewow what a busy exciting day...and isn't great that lots of green stuff was raised to help out the people who kept us safe!!!! um chili........

That sounds like TONS of fun - and a wonderful cause! I don't think I would be allowed to go for the whole thing, either. If I saw a watermelon get sling-shotted across a field, I'd have to run after it and eat it. It's part of being a Texan. We love our watermelon.
ReplyDeleteLuv,
Dave
How fun! It's nice to see so many folks turn out for it!

Hope your MOM is feeling better. Tell MoM that she needs to rest and snuggle with you and you can both nap listening to that new CD--so glad you like all your goodies :)
ReplyDeleteWe've been so busy with our project that I am finding it difficult to get to my blogging.
YOu are your Mom are ALWAYS helping people--you are truly a blessing to soooooo many. Thank you.
Gasp, goose chilli?? Um, I'm not into cannibalism my friend!?
ReplyDeleteI hope that you and your Mom are feeling up to having a good time soon!! At least Sunday isn't too far away! :-D Congratulations on earning lots of green papers for the veterans!!

What a wonderful day that was goose! Such a good cause. We love the clock tower in the pictures. That is just beautiful. We also loved the hand held Stop sign with the message on the back (very clever my furend.) We loved seeing all the doggies come out in support and the Dracula Van stealing blood for a good cause, and we're happy to see all the people who came out to seize the day! You have many, many great furends.
ReplyDeleteHope that you and Mom are doing better today.
Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin
Oh, what an amazing day! So many sweet puppies - look at that sweet golden who's new to the world! Oh, and the bounce house? That's the best! We got a bounce house for Andrew's birthday a few years ago. It was Winnie the Pooh (so we could jump around in "pooh" all day)...you gotta have a sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteI think you would have loved it, Goose! You take care of your MOM. The two of you should rest if you're not feeling amazing! Okay? Okay.
Heehee ~ Goose chili! I was worried there for a sec Goose!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like everybody and everypup had a fantastic time!! What a great cause! (I don't think Ma would have lasted a mile!! BOL!)
Kisses,
Ruby
You guys are an inspiration!

Goose, What a wonderful tribute to the men who fought so valiantly. I bet it was a blast for everyone. I hope you are all healed and will be able to get out and play soon. Sending lots of love to you and your mom today.

What a fun day! We loved the mountains in the background, the stop sign and its message, all the dogs, especially the cute golden pup, the foodables, the giving of the blood, and oh yes, we even saw someone wearing a Kansas State shirt. That little biped on the horse was so cute and having such a great time. Thanks for sharing a great event.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
How great that you guys raised lots of green papers for the veterans and had fun doing it! Okay, maybe you didn't get to Goose but you got lots of great pictures of your friends having fun. I hope everyone ran after they had chili, it would help give them a little more gas. hee!hee!
ReplyDeleteHowdy Goose, you are always involved in great things. What a wonderful event. We too loved the little peep on the horse. That is a classic photo. Take care mates. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteThat's really good stuff you guys do. I am duly impressed!
