Lighting the Way

Hello Friends.

On Wednesday I attend a very important event.  It was a press conference, and yes I, Goose, was an invited guest.

Here I am before the press conference starts.  This press thingy is about the start of the ground preparation for the new Homeless Center that MOM and I are involved with.  You know it as St. Anne's Homeless Center.  But when the new shelter is built it will be know as LANTERN HOUSE- "lighting the way for those in need."   So since there is a little time before the press conference starts let me show you around a little bit.

See this building?  It once was and old old cannery.

Can you picture in this spot plenty of room for family rooms and dorms for those in need.  I can see it.  It's beautiful.

And can you see a new entry way into a wonderful kitchen and dinning hall where nutritious food will feed those in need, even if they are not homeless, just hungry.

And right over here do you see children playing in the play room?  I do.

Oh and this right here is a donation building with plenty of room to receive the beautiful items that will help clothe people and all the items they will need when they get back on their feet when they get a place of there own.
Looks like the press thingy is starting.

There were several people who spoke, important people I am told.  This guy is what they call a senator.  They talked about all kinds of stuff.  But one thing that stood out was that we have raised 5 MILLION dollars so far and we only have 2 MILLION to go.

That nice lady on the right is Jenni.  She is the Director at St. Anne's.  The other lady is one of the supporters of this project.  She also said she was a big fan of mine and wanted a picture with me.  How could I say no?
Now let me finish showing you around.

I am very excited about this area.  Can you see what I see?  It is the Pet Area.  An area that will have a fenced in play and romping area AND enclosed kennels!  Now even if a family is homeless and they have pets the WHOLE family can stay together.  The beauty of all this is overflowing.

Do you want to see why MOM and I are working so hard for this to become a reality?

Because these beautiful girls need a better place to sleep than in the chairs of the lobby in an overcrowded shelter where there and no empty beds for them.

And because these wonderful boys need to feel and know that they are cared about and will be cared for as their families work to get back on their feet again.

And because we know families will be better off if the WHOLE family, pets included, can stay together in a safe and comfortable environment.

I am ready to start up this bulldozer.

And chase the ghost away from this place

And clear the way for something beautiful to happen.

Soon this will be Lantern House- "Lighting the way for those in need."
This is what I see when I look at the site I have just shown you.  With God's continued help and the help and support of dedicated and committed people, Lantern  House will complete in the Spring/Summer of 2013.
Blessings,
Goose

  20. I can totally see the play area with all the kiddos laughing! But then you mentioned the pet area -- OMD!! That's so incredibly pawsome. Doggies get left out of so many social services, but they're part of the family! Momma wants to know if there's a link to where we could make a donation to Lantern House.

  22. I have chills. Goose, I see it all too. I see the children playing. I see the puppies nuzzled all comfy and sleeping. I see the piles of clothes and goods for families. I wonder if the Lantern House also represents the light that the people in "need" are giving to others? I mean already they've created a space for us to see so much beautiful. The children, with the smiles on their faces, with the peacefulness of sleep - even in a chair - can help us all remember that this life is beautiful and it is a gift that we all get to raise each other up. Oh, the Lantern House is certainly a place where those in it are a light to the world. We're seeing lots of beautful there already!

  27. I can SEE it, Goose! That is such an incredible project - and what a blessing it will be to so many people and pets!!!
Did those two ladies in the picture with you give you hugs? They look like the "hug the Goose" types. I like that in a biped. Who could blame them for wanting to have their picture taken with you!?
Here's my idea of how to raise that last $2 million - set up a hugging booth! Charge people to hug you. You'd have that $$$ in NO TIME! Really. Especially if there's anyone like my mom in the area. Woo.
We'll be praying for St. Anne's/the Lantern House! And for you and your MOM.
    Luv,
    Dave
