Today, even though it should be MOM's day off, she needed to go into work. But really that's OK with me because I got to go with her. Of course the first thing she does is walk around the church property with me. That means 10 acres of brush, trees, a ditch, hills, and all sort of places to explore.
Then we headed back inside cuz MOM had to prepare the church for a funeral the next day. A sad thing really. This woman's death was completely unexpected and took everyone off guard. But MOM said while it is sad the funeral will be a celebration of her life.
“Has this world been so kind to you that you should leave with regret? There are better things ahead than any we leave behind.” ~ C.S. Lewis
Then Robin came to the church. I love Robin. She is one of the biggest dog lovers I know and she loves cats too (her only flaw. Just kidding, hehhe). She had some stuff to do for the funeral too and she knew I would be there so she brought me a present.
Yep a yummie bone.
I took it into the nursery to enjoy it. I always find little yummie crumbs in that room. I think the little ones leave them there just for me to find after they leave on Sunday.
After I finished my bone I asked if I could go outside and MOM being the MOM she is said sure. Now I can go out by myself but I like it better if MOM walks with me.
One of the things I like to do is find voles.
Come on MOM stop with the camera and let's see who can run back to the church the fastest. Hehehhehe. It's no contest, I win every time.
Back inside I helped MOM iron the banners that hang in the sanctuary. Because it is Lent MOM needed to take down the other banners and put up the Lent ones.
Bert DO NOT look at the yellow fuzzy round thing in front of me. Don't look. I promise I did not play with this tennis ball while MOM ironed the banner. Promise.
I am such a good helper. I make sure the banner doesn't go any where.
Then MOM hung up the banner and took a step back to see if it looked OK. I thought it would look better if I sat in front of it. I think I am right and MOM agreed.
Then MOM did all sort of other things and I thought I'd give her a break and let her get her stuff done. So I took a nap in front of the altar.
Then it was time to go outside one more time before we headed home. It was a good day, even though MOM was working and considering the reason she was working on her day off.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”

Wow, you are so lucky you get to go to work with your mom! Though my mom works in a boring office building so it probably wouldn't be much fun for me anyway.
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
I SAW THAT. Dude, you disappoint me. Here I am trapped in this little room, no toys, no balls, heck I don't even have food or water. They have me on some silly time schedule for feeding and drinking and I am STARVING and you are playing with a tennis ball.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess I did this to myself. My Vickie asked the doctor if I could take a little walk with you soon and he said NO. Not even a little walk for one more week.
OK, I am feeling sorry for myself when I should be thanking you and your mom for all the prayers and help you and our friends have done in my behalf. Its just that I am sooooo bored.....
I wish I could bust you out of your luxury suite just for a little bit. We could walk and stop and get a burger. But I don't want to do anything that would cause you to have a set back. I will see you tomorrow if I can get past the guards posted at your door. If not I will bark a message to ya from outside. Keep getting better friend. And before ya know it a week will go by and then a little walk. Then 5 weeks will go by and let the jumping and swimming can begin.
DeleteHelpin Mom out is what we furbabies do best! Sounds like a great day all in all. I hope Bert doesn't see that tennis ball. **Headbumps**
ReplyDeleteEvery day should be a celebration of life. If everyone just watched you and your mom they might understand better. We wish the family peace.
ReplyDeleteDear Goose! Even on sad days you give comfort by just beeing around! Helping your Mom prepare a ceremony with dignity and thinking of Bert and telling him stories! In case you see him tomorrow (or at least bark at him)please tell him I love him!

How good of you to help your Momma out so much Goose! And just think you lucked out getting that bone too. Maybe someday you can come and help Fred sniff out the pesky voles that keep making tracks in my flowerbeds!
ReplyDeleteGoose you are so good to help your mom with her working and stuffs. She is very much lucky to have you.
ReplyDelete10 acres??? THAT is a LOT!!!!
Goose, you sure seem to be blending in with a lot of things these days. I quite like the last pic in front of the tree. Glad you could help your mom on her day off. Don't let Bert see the picture of the ball you didn't play with!
ReplyDeleteDear Goose, please ask Mom to toss out that tennis ball and any other tennis balls you may have. We think they are way too dangerous. Thank you that was our Public Service Announcement.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the sudden and unexpected death. Those are always the most shocking and hard to bear. My condolences to all. Your Church is very pretty. We would go to your Church if we lived near you, even though we are Catholics. Very lapsed ones I might add..
You are lucky that you can go to work with your mom any time you want! I go to work with Mom sometimes, but to be honest, it's pretty exhausting there with all those human puppies and I'm glad I don't have to go every day. If there were ten acres to explore, I'd be a lot sadder about not getting to go, though!
ReplyDeleteWow, are you a good helper, Goose! And you're so right --- the banner is beautiful, but even MORE so with you in front of it!
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you had your MOM take breaks. Bipeds need us to remind them of that.
Luv,
Dave
Hi Goose, So glad you had lots of outdoor time, you are very lucky.

Goose, 10 acres is a whole lot of land to explore! The Church looks gorgeous against the mountains :)
ReplyDeleteRobin sounds like a lovely lady, well except the cat thing and how nice of her to give you a bone, you sure are a lucky doggy!
Slobbers
I am sure you were the best helper Goose. 10 acres, huh? Oh the training we could do!
