Hello Friends,

Yesterday I was suppose to meet my friends Baci, Logan and Bert at the Fort.  More specifically at the baseball fields at the Fort.  OH NO not the baseball fields!  You may remember that several months ago at the baseball fields a dog bit my eye.  Ever since then I DO NOT like the fields (I still love going into the Fort however).  I shake and tremble and do not want to go in to the baseball field.  MOM thought since it was just my good friends and me I would be OK.  When we got out of the Blazer MOM decided to not hook my leash on in hopes that I would run to meet my friends.  Nope, I stood by the Blazer and wanted to get back in.  So she hooked me up and led, sort of pulled, me to the field.  I just stood there with her, stuck to her leg like glue.  Bert was not there yet and Baci and Logan's mom suggested that we walk around the outside of the fields to make me feel more comfortable.  It helped, I romped and played with Logan and Baci.  Then we saw Bert pull up and we headed back, TO THE FIELDS.

Maybe if I close my eyes it will all go away.

"Nooooo MOM, please don't make me go into the baseball field."

"Come on Goosie, I'll be right here with you.  It will be OK."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes.  We will take it slow."
"OK, I'll take a deep breath and trust you are right."

While I was taking it slow Logan and Bert were chasing that silly ball.  Logan just flies, his feet don't even touch the ground.  They don't seem to feel the fear.

The lovely Baci was running way far out in the scary field.  No fear in her either.

In the sky was this way cool Sun Dog.

"OK MOM lets walk a little further out in the field.  But make sure you stay right next to me."
"Don't worry, I won't ever leave your side."
So we walked a little further out into the field.  Oh it was scary.

I got out to about the 2nd base line and Baci came over to encourage me.

"Come on Goose chase me."
"Oh I don't know Baci."
"Trust me Goose it will help chase your fear away."

Just then Bert came skidding by to get the ball.

Miss Sheila kept Bert and Logan busy throwing that ball.  This is Bert on the take off.

And here is Logan.
MOM watched them for a little while and when she turned back to see how I was doing this is what she saw.

Me, RUNNING across the field!

"Hey MOM Baci was right.  I'm chasing  my fear away.

"Can I go play with my friends now?"
"Of course you can, enjoy."

Wooooo Hoooo.

Ha Ha!  I'm running in the scary field and I am OK.  I am even smilin'.  "Look out MOM I am headed right for you." hhehehe

I just had to show you this.  You all know that Bert is ball CRAZY. When Bert brings the ball back he has a hard time giving the ball up.  Even though he loves loves to chase the ball, for some reason he does not get it that he must release the ball in order for Miss Sheila or my MOM to throw it.  Do you see the death grip he has on the ball?

Bawahhaha.  Miss Vickie has to lift him up off the ball.  And STILL, he tries to grip it.  My buddy has issues.

"Thanks MOM for helping me with my fear."
"Gooseberry that's what love does."

"There is no fear in love, love casts out fear..." 1 John 4:18

  1. Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter ~ well you succeeded at something that does matter to you Goose. Have fun chasing that ball.
    Thanks for being a friend

  19. I'm so glad you were able to face your fear and conquer it! It's not an easy thing to do. It looks to me like it was well worth it for all that fun out there!

  20. It was worth the effort Goose - one paw in front of the other and in no time at all those fear just got chased away. Of coarse we think your Mom will probably have to take you on more play dates to the park - just to make sure :)

  21. Way to go Goose! We're so proud of you for chasing away your fear. I know that it was really hard to do after such a tramatic experience, but we just knew you could do it. You have the best friends to help you too.

What a beautiful day for a run in the park. We really enjoy looking at all of your pictures.

  22. The way you chased fear away is a brilliant visual for me to commit to memory. Any time I feel fear creeping in I'm going to remember that photo of your beautiful floppy ears, and giant grin, and I'm going to take a deep breath and "cast out fear." Thank you.

  23. Morning Handsome!!
First of all I'm mad all over again at the thought of ANY dog daring to hurt gone it!
If you need me and my daggers to come scratch some mean dog tush just let me know.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL POST GOOSE. I can surely understand your reluctance to go back to the baseball field. Being surrounded by loving mom, friends and fun took all the fear away and made it fun again. You have a fine circle of friends...yep Bert has ball issues but they are funny.
    hugs Madi your BFFF

  24. all things are possible with a little help of your friends ;o) I was bitten by a belgian shepherd last year and if I pass his backyard I pee on his goalpost - always. every day. I likethe pictures of Bert & his ball ;o)

  25. Goose, we are very glad you were able to play with the gang. We hope you won't be scared next time. BUTT, mostly we wish people would properly socialize their dogs to people and other dogs so this would never have happened to begin with!!

    Your Pals,

  26. I'm so glad you could get over your fear! There are some really skeery places, but mommas are very good at protecting us!

  30. I loved the "chasing your fears away" picture the best! You are smiling and relieved in that picture and it's a lovely sight! Good for you! Also, good for your friends to help you get over your fears! You and Daisy are just alike in that you both need encouragement to chase away your fears!

  31. So glad Goose got over his fears! We can learn so much from our dogs!

  32. Woof! Woof! Glad you got rid of your fear ... especially your chasing friends are with you. Bert is such a Golden. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  33. Haha! Glad you got over your fear! What big nasty dog would want to bite YOUR eye?!
Now, I can understand Berts obsessive behaviour over the ball, it is rather normal! But he must be heavy for dear Miss Vickie to lift!
I can't believe your snow is still there and so thick!!
    Have a woofy week!

  34. Oh Goose, with the love and help of your friends and your mama you can over anything!

  35. Hi Goose, I/we are so very, very proud of you. When you described how you felt I knew that is how Hunter feels when his big friends charge at him-he just wants to hide and have me protect him. If the friends would realize they need to just walk up to him calmly, he'd be fine. So glad you conquered that fear!!!!
I saw that we picked the same name for KSO's new kitten-how cool is that. Hope you have a great afternoon buddy.
    Wags, Noreen & Hunter

  36. Oh, I thinks this is one of my favorite posties Goose!! You sure rocked that field! Yea furends!!!! You have the bestest pack ever!

  37. Now THIS is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Way to go, Goose! We're so proud of you for conquering your fear! And look at what fun you had! Your MOM and your friends love you! And you trust them -- and look at how that paid off!!! Seeing you RUN with that smile on your face made our day, brother! Maybe even more than that. That's what love and faith are all about.
This is our #1 favorite post. #1.

  38. Goose that last shot of you running was the best. YAY you conquered, being bit by another dog is scary, we are glad you've over come that cause that baseball field looks like a whole lot of fun.
