Grace and a Game

Hello Friends

Lets start with Grace shall we.  As some of you know my MOM's much loved camera took a turn for the worse and in the end did not make it.  What to do?   I suggested that MOM could sketch our adventures.  I mean I have seen her sketches of scenery and they are not bad.  Unfortunately the skill in scenery does not transform over to live action or me.  Here take a look.

That is suppose to be me in my backyard.  Is it me or do I look a bit thin?

Anywho, with the laptop getting all sick and the back window of the Blazer being all smashed out and the camera in the ICU and looking like it was not going to make it, MOM had to make some decisions.  We didn't tell you about these decisions but we would have to choose what item(s) we would get first.  The camera came in last place.  After all MOM had her phone to take pictures.  Then out of the blue MOM gets an email from someone who likes my blog.  This is what it said:
I have followed you and Goose for a while now and love, love, love that dog of yours.  May I add that when you write something like the Road to Bethlehem it never fails to make me think deeper. Also thanks for all you do for  the  St. Anne's shelter --both animal and peeps.

I was sorry to hear about your camera's demise and if you would like another one (I found a Lumic FZ35 on Amazon) I would be pleased to make a gift of it to you.  Or, if you have another camera in mind, just let me know and I will  get that one.  It is not good to be long without a camera when you have the photographic opportunities (and subject) you do.  :  )

You can imagine our surprise and gratefulness for this gracious offer.  And if you know my MOM at all, you know she does not always practice what she preaches.  In that I mean she has advised people in somewhat similar circumstances to accept "it" for the gift that it is.  So MOM said a big thank you but she could not accept.  Then came another email from the same person about the lesson she learned from her mom about tithing and helping those doing the Lord's work.  WOW, imagine me, Goose, doing the Lord's work, who knew.  She said doing the Lord's work could mean anything from playing the piano, to mission work, to fixing a tractor.  Well, long beautiful story short, my MOM sucked up her pride and said yes.  And friends that is why I am able to post beautiful photos on my blog once again because someone followed their calling to lend a hand.  My friends that is grace in the form of beautiful generosity.  Words can not express how grateful and blessed me and my MOM are.  She is just so overwhelmed by it all.   So from the tip of my nose to the end of my tail to the depths of my heart, thank you dear friend.

AND NOW FOR A LITTLE GAME:
MOM says some of you may remember a show called Sesame Street.  And a little game they use to play called "Which One Does Not Belong".  Ready to play?

Take a look at all the items I have in front of me.  Can use guess which one does not belong?

Here is a closer look.  We have a phone, backpack and sleeping bag.

And here is a fishing pole and trekking poles.

And here we have hiking boots, tent, and a topographical map of Wyoming.
Can you guess which does not belong?  The answer tomorrow.

Blessings,
Goose

  1. Oh Goose..... what great news about that gift from that really nice and generous person!!! Tell your Mom that she DOES SOOOOOO MUCH for everyone (every pup) she comes into contact with..... and is such a NICE PERSON THROUGH AND THROUGH..... that she should not feel bad about accepting something so wonderful and out of much kindness. It's nice to know that there are still great peeps around who are able to do stuff like that. Makes our hearts swell!!

My guess is THE PHONE does not belong. Mum says when you are camping, fishing and hiking in the beautifuls wilds..... the phone can wait at home. Enjoy the peace and quiet!

    Hope I'm right.

  3. We hope it is the camera and not you that doesn't belong in the picture. We would think that if you could get reception a phone could come in handy in an emergency though.

What a great gift for someone to give you a camera.

  5. What a wonderful surprise for your MOM Goose!! We are so very thrilled for you both!! See...Grace Does Happen! God is Good.

We don't know ... about the game... it seems as if all of that stuff could be used...unless you are not going to Wyoming. But, we think we heard you were going there so we don't know!

Thank you to that wonderful friend for that gift! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

First - Goose I had a horrible feeling as others have mentioned that it might not be yourself that is included in the hike - but that would be too awful to contemplate! I second the general view - dump the phone!!! Of course, unless by a river, why the fishing rod?

Second - my word I could identify with Mom... why is it that those of us in a position of giving all the time have such a hard time receiving? I'm dreadful at it. Sometimes I know it comes across as rude and that is not my intention. I am working very hard at being more grateful for how the Lord ensures return of spirit. If HE thinks I am worth it, why should I not? That goes for everyone in this position and I commend Pastor Michelle for overcoming this hurdle.

Like everyone else I am also hugely thankful for the generosity that has ensure our full dose of the Gorgeous Goose!!

Blessings, hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  8. What a wonderful and caring thing to do it is hard to accept gifts sometimes but it gives so much joy to the giver and receiver too. You are dreading off to Wyoming ...but we dont see the goose stuffiness packed...where is your bag?

  9. Well if you ask me the phone should stay locked in the glove box. Loved the story of the generous reader. People are awesome and this post proves it. We just only usually hear of the bad stuff. But the good outweighs it by orders of magnitude. Thanks for sharing this reminder about generosity and yes, sometimes accepting gifts like this.

  14. Well duh. It's the phone - as soon as you get east of Evanston, you fall into a cell phone black hole that extends to the far side of Nebraska! ;-) But, it looks like you're gearing up for a fun trip!

  15. WE so agree with Rubie. Goose your Mom is so terrific and we are so glad she accepted the phone. There are just some truly wonderful people that blog. People that have the finances to give things like that so enjoy doing stuff like that. And as you and your Mom know, it gives you such a nice feeling to give and help someone.
We agree, the phone shouldn't be there.
    Take care.
Love the drawing. You are kind of skinny in it Goose.

  16. Nice story. People and dogs helping each other with no Government involvement.
    I like it.

BTW: I need $728,000.00 to pay off my Jeopardy debt. All help is immediately accepted. http://agent54nsa.blogspot.com/2013/07/dumbest-question-ever-asked.html Thank you, Agent 54

  17. I am so glad your mom accepted! We love seeing pictures of you and your adventures. I'm guessing that it's the phone that doesn't belong, but I might turn out to be surprised!

  18. Since I have been reading your blog, I have always felt that some where in your title it needed the word blessing because every time I read a post from you and your Mom I receive a blessing from the Gospel of Goose. You and your Mom deserve much more than can humanly be given, but God has blessed you with each other.

We were thinking phone, but you may need it in case of an emergency.

  19. Maybe the map is wrong, because they have no fishies in Wyoming? or have they? I'm glad you have a new cam, to sketch all the pictures is a hard work - and you are a silvermistygrey ghost - with which color your mom should sketch a picture of you? Have a great tuesday and please catch a fish for me too :o)

  20. What a WONDERFUL thingy. You and your mom have touched this Fabulous Person's heart and he/she wanted to Paw it back.

We think that the MAP is what doesn't belong since you could use an APP on the phone fur that.

Goose....are you going on this trip? If not, then I guess YOU don't belong in the photo!

Butt....you can come to my house instead!

  24. We're thinking it is the phone cuz there isn't much service off the freeway. We know you have to be going cuz your mom would not leave you!

  27. Our deepest thanks to that wonderful friend for the gift of a camera from her heart. That is the Lord working through another.

We would say the phone too, but in today's world you probably are safer to have one. We sure hope the answer isn't Goose unless it is for your own good.

    Happy camping.

Wow, what a wonderful story! I'm so happy that your good furiend helped with a camera. She is right that your blog brings so much joy to others and I'm glad. Oh, I think you can have a wonderful hike/camp/fish adventure without that technophone! My Mom has that song from the Sesame Street game in her head now. BOL

  34. Your story of grace brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to that wonderful person from all of us. Not only do you have a camera, but we all learned even more about grace.

I think that the phone does not belong. It looks like you are going to have a grand adventure where there will not be phone service, so leave it home :)

  36. Oops,we hit the wrong button! Lady Caroline thinks it has to be the fishing rod. Just like everyone else, she's been missing Goose. Isn't it something how so many can benefit from just a bit of sharing. Just makes your heart glad.

  37. Howdy Goose, what a wonderful friend and we are soooo glad your mum accepted the gift. It seems like the gift will be shared by all of us cause we now get to see more beautiful photos. For some reason we are thinking Goose, you may be going to stay at Bert's place. We hope you are going with your mum butt we're not sure! No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  38. How lovely that you have a camera again. What a wonderful friend to help like that. I am glad you accepted the gift. I am being selfish. I love your pictures.

I am stumped about what doesn't belong. I would guess cell phone doesn't belong since sometimes those don't work in far a way places where fishing poles do. :)

  39. I'm going to guess the shoes. I mean - why do you need shoes? You're a puppy!
I'm so glad your MOM accepted that most generous gift. And truly, you DO have a huge ministry out here, Goose and Goose's MOM!
I like your MOM's drawing, but yes, you look a bit thin. I think you need some snacks!
