What's Wrong

Yesterday morning I stood at the back door whining.  Then I stood on the bed and looked out the window and whined.  MOM was not amused, she was busy talking to someone on the phone.  When she finished she came into the bedroom, "What is your deal? Why are you whining?”

If she would only look out the window she would see.

Three pheasants in MY yard! “Let me out, Let me out!!!!”  But no, she just stood there watching them.  “What's wrong with you?  They are in MY yard.”  All my whining fell on deaf ears.

Look at them just strutting around.

And all those other birds hanging out with them.

So I barked and barked, the pheasants looked at the window (and I swear they laughed) and then took flight.  That’s when MOM let me out.  “A little late” I thought.

My MOM for nearly 2 years now has tried to live a complaint free life.  She's not perfect but what a difference it has made in her life.  So when I came back in she gave me a little talk about complaining because I would not stop whining and complaining that she was not doing what I wanted.  Here's a little of what she said.

"What's wrong?". This is what many people are constantly asking themselves.

What problem or challenge can I put my focus upon and in so doing distract me from the wonders of this day.

Saying "What's wrong with the world?", so I can make it seem to large for me to share responsibility in improving it.

If we would constantly ask ourselves, "what's going well?", The shift in our focus and the world would be astounding.

She's right.  But I do love a good chase.  Next time I will express myself differently.  I really did enjoy the beauty of those three pheasant as they took flight.

Blessings,
Goose

  2. OH. Those birds like to taunt us, don't they?

Mom has a point....still, it's hard to allow those birds to just be!

  3. Ooooh, I like that "what's going well" thing!!! What a great outlook!
That sure was a pretty bird, Goose. Me? I would have stared at him, real quiet like. It's what I do. I love all of God's creatures and just want to watch them and/or make friends with them. Mom thinks I'm pretty special like that. It's just who I am.

  4. Dude, My Vickie loved the "Whats wrong with the world" quiz your human gave you.

Today she was talking with her mom who told her that the human shelter was so full that the people were sleeping in the chapel.

That got her to thinking that she hasn't been helping you and your congregation in trying to raise funds for the homeless shelters shelter for their pets for a while.

She promised to renew her efforts in "Making the world a better place"

So out comes the donation jar again. Hopefully all of our friends humans, that bring us to day care will help out.

    Love

  7. Poor Goose, my girls, Sugar and Meeka sure feel your pain. It happens for them less and less since we've moved to Arizona - but when we lived in the country in Missouri, they would have so many birds and little animals trespassing on their property. Sometimes I thought they'd go insane if I didn't let them out. I have joined the "complaint free world" also. Makes life so much easier.

  10. Hi Y'all,

Those are beautiful birds Goose! So glad your human didn't allow you to chase them. I'm not allowed to chase either, but I don't have a window to help me control myself.

    Y'all come by now,

  11. Hi Goose, You have a very wise mom! I have determined to have an attitude of gratitude-even when things aren't how I wished they were. You should have been so glad to watch the three beauties but I understand how much you wanted to chase them. I am thankful you have a wonderful mom and nice warm home to live in.
Have a delightful day, oh yes, those pheasants were gorgeous.
    Hugs, Noreen & Reggie-dog

  13. That was mean of the pheasants to taunt you. :) I think some tried to taunt Argos once, but he didn't even notice that they were there. (Some Sighthound...)
