Old Stomping Grounds

So on Wednesday after my MOM picked me up from daycare I expected us to go home.  But she told me we were going on a hike instead because soon the snow will come and we don’t do as much hiking and backpacking. I was very excited. Plus our friend Jenni would be joining us. But it turned out that Jenni forgot her hiking shoes. So MOM decided we would go for a walk around the block where she grew up. Not as exciting as the mountains, but still it’s a walk.

We met Jenni at a park just down the road from where my MOM’s childhood home is. And we began our walk. We went past her old house and a barn across the road where they filmed Halloween II or III. We kept walking and walking and I noticed there were no sidewalks, then Jenni said, “How big is this block?” It turns out its 4.5 miles!! There were tons of trees, all kinds of different brush and bushes, canals, all kinds of farm animals (one house had 7 cats sitting on the porch). I scared up a flock of ducks from a stream. It was great. That’s when I met a pack (I think that’s what ya call more than 12 cows).  I have to admit I did not know what to think of those big black beefy creatures, but I had to be brave and keep myself between them and my MOM and Jenni. I’m happy to report we made it past them with no incident.  When we were almost done with our walk this SUV that was going past us slowed down real fast and turned around and stopped in front of us. A man and woman got out.  They walked over and asked if they could pet me. I’ve never had that happen. Turns out they love Weimeriners and thought I was handsome and they had to meet me. After a bit the window of the SUV rolled down and there was a real cute petite Wiemeriner, oh she was cute. It was a great walk I only wish there were more pictures to show you. Remember the ducks? Yea, well I pulled so hard on my leash to chase them that the camera in MOM’s hand ended up in the stream. So enjoy the few photos taken on the cell phone.

Right after the duck incident.

He's just my dog. He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds.
He has told me more than a thousand times over that I am his reason for being -- by the way he rests against my me, by the way he wags his tail at my smallest smile, by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me).
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another person. With him, I am content.
He has taught me the meaning of devotion is loyalty itself. With him, I know the secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me ... whenever ... wherever ... in case I need him, and I expect I will, as I always have.Who is he? -- He's just – My dog--GOOSE
Blessings,
Goose

  1. I am so glad you posted the last part of "He's Just a Dog" My Vickie was hoping you would share that with everyone.

Now tomorrow you have to tell her where you were raised cause it looked an awful lot like her place in Hooper.
