On Sunday Bert's Miss Vickie took off for Alaska with a friend. ALASKA!! Before I go any further I must tell you that Alaska is my MOM's dream. In short it goes like this. Someone would fly my MOM to a very remote place. The plane would land on a small lake somewhere drop her off with her fishing pole and hiking boots and come back for her in 7 to 10 days. That's it, that's her dream. Now Miss Vickie is not doing anything like that, but still she is there. My MOM is not taking care of the dogs at the kennel, she is just to busy. Butt Bert's Whitney is there. On Tuesday and on Thursday night when MOM picked me up from Bert's place we took Bert back to my place so he could romp and play and enjoy my green green grass and spend the night. It has been some fun. Let me show you.
Of course we played ball. Bert is completely obsessed with playing ball and he knows my MOM will throw it forever.
Golden Boy and my tire ball.
Waiting for the throw.
"Come on MOM throw the green ball already."
"I'm goin' to get ya Bert."
Zeroing in
This is me teasing Bert. "Ha Ha I got the green ball."
Hahahhaha, that Bert is totally focused on the ball. He will stand there staring at it forever. You can't see it but he is drooling too.
Watching the world go by.
You know how some dogs don't like the flashy beast. Well Bert LOVES to smile and pose. Can you tell what I am thinking by the look on my face?
I have to tell you something. I know I have said before that my MOM sleeps about 4 hours a night, give or take. Well on that first night after we went to bed, about every hour or so Bert would wake my MOM up by dropping the ball on her chest. That crazy boy wanted to play all night and early morning long. When we went back to his place in the morning he slept most of the day.
On Thursday night when we brought him back to my house for the night we of course played ball. But we also chilled on the patio and watched the sun go down.
Being the host I am, I set us up with one of my doggy beers and some of my strawberries.
"See those Bert? Those are strawberries. I normally eat a couple each morning with MOM, butt seeing that this is a special occasion (sharing the day with a friend) I thought you would enjoy a couple."
"My Vickie might be in Alaska, and if I can't be there with her I sure am glad I am here. I mean I never get a doggie beer and strawberries at home. Oh and endless chasing a ball."
"Hurry back Miss Vickie. I'm running out of beer and strawberries."
Blessings,
Goose

Sounds like a fabulous time. Love the pictures. You are clever to pair beer and strawberries Goose.
ReplyDeleteHubby and I went to Alaska for our 10 year anniversary, (that was a long time ago now). If there is a more beautiful place I can't imagine it.
Goose, you and your Mom are so kind to let Bert come visit while his Mom is off having a blast in Alaska - we would love to go there too. But we don't think we want to fish, we just want to run on the snow trails:)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those strawberries and beer - they look delish.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
So Bert's drinking all your beer, eh? We suspected as much!

Maybe your mom will learn to throw the ball while sleeping after some nights with Bert? my dad can lift up the blanket while he sleeps when I want to go under his blanket. You are a perfect host Goose, beer and strawberries sounds not bad ( I'm more for the beer)
ReplyDeleteGoose you are one fine host and you set out deluxe snacks!
ReplyDeleteYou and Bert make Mom smile...however, you and Bert give me (MADI) the vapors you are way too handsome.
My peeps went to Alaska for their 35th anniversary in 2005. Mom's bucket list had two things on it at the time 1.See Elvis in person which she did the year before he died. 2. go to Alaska.
She said if she had been 30 years younger she might have stayed. Absolutely the most amazing place she has ever been....and the true definition of the word AWESOME!!!
Hugs madi and Mom
OMD!! Goose you are the bestest host ever!! Just look at that spread!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a FABulous time!!!
I'll be right overs....
Kisses,
Ruby

That was one of my best finds from the farmer's market last Saturday! I have my own strawberry plant to grow my own strawberries all summer long. I think Bert might be ready to just move in with you!
ReplyDeleteBunny
Thanks for the clarification about See Beautiful! I was just about to write a post for it... now I can wait!
ReplyDeleteWe once did your dream, were dropped off on a secluded island of Alaska. As our boat skipper drove away, we realized that, if he forgot about us, we were in deep deep trouble. Fortunately, we had a fabulous time, and he did not forget!
Thanks for taking such good care of Bert, Goose! I'm sure that he misses Miss Vickie but you're a great friend.
It's cool that you guys are having your own adventure since she's gone!
ReplyDeleteNubbin wiggles,

ReplyDeleteOk, Goose...we have a question to ask you....will you please ask your MOM if it would be OK for us to come for a visit????? This post should be nominated for BEST post of the year!!! It is so very evident that you and Bert share such a special bond and your house is a special place and your MOM is a special mom!!! We wish we could all come and share your strawberries!! The idea of the calendar is a great one...you two really ARE the cutest together!! Hope Miss Vickie has fun on her adventure too. xoxo Chloe and LadyBug
