Ducks, Geese, Goose and a Bert Too

Hello Friends.

Come a long with me on a little adventure.  But before we do that as promised yesterday until Bert can get his interwebs fixed here is a little Bert fix for ya all.

Tomorrow I will explain how Bert got into this position.

I know that some of you know by now that my MOM has been very sick.  Those medical types still don't know what the deal is but I think she is finally on the mend.  On Saturday she had promised to help out a Search and Rescue team.  What that means is that MOM and I get ourselves lost and the dog, Zoie, finds us.  We love doing this.  But as I said my MOM was real sick.  But off we went any way and we got lost and as my MOM was laying in the thick tall grass behind an old dead tree she was thinking to herself, "I think I might need rescuing for real.  I hope they bring a stretcher."  Zoie did a GREAT job and found my MOM right away.  MOM decided that since we were already out there she might as well let me have some romping fun before she had someone take her back to the hospital.  Yea my MOM has a crazy sense of humor like that.  Anyway....

As we were walking a long in an open area I thought I smelled something.  And my ZIM training took over.

Hahhahaha oh yea I knew it.  Take a look out ahead of me.  Do you see them?  Lets move a bit closer.

It was a small herd (I think that is the scientific term) of gooses.

I took a few steps closer and tried my very best ZIM communicating skills on those gooses.  And guess what?  They started to walk right towards me!!  They just kept coming and coming.  That Zim is one masterful teacher.  "Hey my Northern goose friends.  My name is Goose and it is real nice to meet you.  Before I leave do you think you could do a fly by so my MOM can get a picture of ya all in flight?"

"No problem brother Goose.  Hows this with the mountains in the background?"
"Oh that is beautiful.  Thank you!"  Do ya all see them to the right in the photo just above the grass?

Then they circled and tipped their wings to me.
What a nice herd of gooses.

As we headed back to the Blazer I stopped all of the sudden and stared at this tree.  MOM thought is looked beautiful so she took a picture.  Then she realized the tree was moving.  She was right.  Do you see why?   No?  Here let me take you in a little closer.  Be prepared for beautiful overload.

Do you see those wonderful Wood Ducks flying across the tree?  There are two males and one female.  WOW!  MOM said it was breath taking.
What a wonderful day.  We got to help out Zoie the Search and Rescue dog, MOM got to lay down for a while, I met some new feathered friends and we got to see a whole lot of beautiful everywhere we turned.

And just in case you need a little more Bert in your life here he is.
Blessings,
Goose

  3. Thank goodness for the Bert fix. I needed it.

You made me worried about your mom. I'll be thinking of her, hoping that she feels better really soon.

The wood ducks are amazing. Breath-taking. You had a great day. Now, Nurse Goose, please help your mom get better. We love you both.

Goose please make sure your Mom is resting...if you have to SIT ON HER!!

Search and Rescue game is kind of like hide and seek.

We have a herd (scientific term cracked us up) of Canada Geese here too...in fact we call them North Carolina Geese. Years ago before GPSs they came for the winter and never left.

The pictures of the ducks are spot on!!

  12. Goose we are sorry your mom is sick. We hope she is better soon. Our Lady would do the same thing, finish a walk before going to the hospital. Looks like a good walk. We are laughing cause we live in Canada and we don't have geese around our house right now. Turkeys yes, but no geese!

Have a great day. Lee and Phod

  16. Sir King Goose III, we just LOVE your name! We never knew you were Royalty, but we probably should have. We just read your interview and loved it! You, your Mom an Madi did a great job putting it together.

First we want to say hi to Bert! We know he is having such horrible internet problems so wanted to give him a quick shout-out.

We hope that your Mom feels better real soon Goose. We will be keeping her in our daily thoughts and prayers.

We're glad that Mom was able to help be a victim for the SAR training. (tee~hee~hee loved the little nap part.) Happy to read that she didn't need that stretcher after all.

Your pictures are so beautiful. We love how your new friends the geese put on a show for you. With a name like Goose, you all need to stick together!

Great post my friend. Hope you all have a beautiful kind of day.

    Hugs,
    Lily Belle & Muffin

WE have already seen your interview with Mayoress Madi. You did a superb job with it buddy. WOW.. I don't think you have ever told us exactly how you came to live with your mom before. THAT is a gorgeous story!!

PeeS... I was trying to send BERT an email last night, about how WE can figure thingys out, and suddenly POOF... my Email thingy got DEADED. I wanted to tell him about how he found your mom's medical device that had gotten lost!!! THAT was amazing.
So NOW I have NO EMAIL... WildBlue says that it could take up to 72 hours to get it fixed. {{SIGH}} Bert and I seem to be in the SAME SINKING ISP BOAT!! I am going today to see if I can get VERIZON.

  18. Yikes, did you say your Mom had to go to the hospital? We sure hope she is OK!!!

Great fun you had out there with those geese. Mom says that a group of geese is called a gaggle when they are not in flight and a skein when in flight. We actually prefer the term pack:)

Thanks for the shot of Bert and when you see him, please tell him that we love him and so enjoyed his last post.

This is the sort of day that aids healing, regardless of the ailment, so I hope Mom is truly on the mend. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty
